Well picked it up tonight, defiantly wasn't worth much more than $1500

On the to do list
Full Service (God knows when the last one was done, has a mopar filter on it with half an inch of gunk built up)
Power steering leek, looks like the line is rubbing against the steering box.
Coolant leek somewhere.
Right hand front Hub....OMG what a racket!!
Front springs and shocks.
Set of tyres
Replace the hood-lining and get a new steering column shroud and a new remote for the central locking
Still uming and ahhing about tyres and suspension.
Pretty sure some 31/10.5/15's will fit but would rather something a bit bigger with some "Bling" rims
Good news is I drove it home from Newcastle (close to 150km) on about $20 worth of fuel, so despite it's obvious neglect still runs fine :D

You'd be driving a Hilix or a Pootrol, not a Jeep ;)

atm, trying to figure out how to put a winch on it without having one of those B52 Wings sticking out the front that the yanks call winch bars :wall:

Best of all you are not freighting around 40kg + of weight the 98% of the time you do not need it.
and you can winch out the way you came- providing you have a tow hitch.

Nice idea, but not one I'm keen on. I have a bit of experience in the comp scene and as far as winching/recovery disasters go, I've seen a few.
Besides. I need a bar of some kind. I have to re-paint the one on the 80 every few months

Hmm,
Been doing research.
for the front a 75 series front diff, flipped and with a wide track kit
For the rear a 100 series Prado or IFS hilux/4Runner rear will give me plenty of available aftermarket parts.
The front setup will free up room for Steering damper/drag link/panhard as the Tie rod is behind the housing.
Also I'll have part time 4WD without having to spend $1200 on a kit from the US
I can still have disc rears as I've recently worked up a really nice Disc conversion :monkey:
Also give me a lot more choices with Rims (I won't need to buy new ones)
And a 10 mm track increase. :D
Sounds like a Win Win situation especially as I've got most of the parts on hand including lockers
Patrol stuff is to wide and pumpkins are to big.
80 Series front is to wide too. 65.5" WMS to WMS
40 series front is the same width as the 75, but no high pinion and big center.
apart from the 200 series which is too wide all the cruiser rear diffs have offset centers.
Rear Springs, I might go for a wander tomorrow, thinking I'll pinch a load leaf out of something else to lift the arse a bit in conjunction with some home made Shackels
Front springs, I'll buy a set to match the rear and have a Go at fabbing up my own front end setup using GU slotted bushes. angles of the front chassis "Rails" might make it a bit difficult though

sounds like a lot of stuffing around for 33s. 8.25 or D44 rear diff would be heaps cheaper with sufficient strength and HEAPS of aftermarket parts -more than you can poke a stick at! good luck with the build!

If I went that way, it'd be 35's.
Wouldn't bother otherwise ;)
atm, Waiting on parts, some new hoses, gaskets and brakes.
Need to hurry up and get it running, found out my steering box on the 80 series is about to tear clean out of the chassis on the weekend
looks like the "biggest" tyre that'll go on the standard 15" rims is a 31/9/15 :(

Well, thought I'd add a final update to this.
I replaced a lot of parts, detailed it to within an inch of it's life and drove it for near 10 months while I started collecting parts.
Then...
I got sandwhiched in the middle of a 5 car pile up.
The Jeep is no more...
I've got some pics somewhere, I'll try and remeber to post them up.
It was a big hit, although I can't see the front of the engine, I think it broke the crank.... :wall:
