My ZG (ZJ) 98 Grand Cherokee has the typical slip yoke thud when almost stopping. Had a look under but my one has a CV joint on the front driveshaft with the rear driveshaft having unis each end with the yoke going into splines on the transfer case. Not as in pics I've seen showing a rubber boot arrangement over the slip yoke beyond a universal joint. In this case what do I grease? I presume the yoke going into the transfer case is lubricated by the transfer case fluid?? Would the CV joint be the problem?

Thanks

I think it's more likely to be worn Upper Control Arm rubbers at the body end (either front or back or both ends) .....they'll make that "thudding" noise.

May not be lubricated well enough by t/case flluid, its only what gets splashed up there & theres only about 2 & a bit litres in t/case.
I removed mine & lubed with molybenenum grease , it was fairly dry.
