Hi everyone,
We did a bit of camping over the weekend and accidentally left the keys in the tent when we packed it up. Car was all loaded when we realised what must have happened.
No probs (hmmm) - went for the spares (dutifully looked after by the other half) but they didn't work. Car cranked over and started momentarily, but engine then immobilised. We had to unpack the car (in mid 30's heat no shade), open up the tent, retrieve the missing keys, and pack it all up again.
Lucky we didn't really lose the keys otherwise we would have been well and truly stuck - out of mobile phone range too.
Talked to dealer today - all fixed. Was told you need to use the 'spare' from time to time or it gets out of sync and is treated as a rogue key (and immobilises the engine). Advice is to use spare occasionally and have all keys checked at each service.
Just thought we'd share!
Cheers, M&G
