CAMP COFFS 2012 INFORMATION:
This Jeep event is held by Jeep Action Magazine and supported by the Coffs Coast Jeepers club. Camp Coffs is located at Coffs Harbour on the beautiful Mid North Coast of NSW. Camp Coffs is located within the Coffs Harbour showground on the Pacific Highway.

Walking distance to service stations and food outlets. Close to shopping complexes. There is a large hall used for recreational gathering, vendors and trip allocation meetings.
Camp Coffs officially opens on Thursday morning the 5th of April. This will allow you to beat the traffic, arrive Thursday, settle in and have a look around the local area.

If you arrive earlier, the camping can be accessed from 1PM Wednesday 4th April and definitely NO earlier. There will be a charge of $10 per Jeep for Wednesday. Please remember that setting up of the camp area may still be taking place so please be co-operative.

Guided trips are run Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Group activity or trips will be arranged for Monday if required.

GRADED TRIPS ARE AS FOLLOWS
Placid/Discovery - Suitable for all Jeeps, bitumen and forestry roads that may lead to some light four-wheel driving.
Moderate - Suitable for all Jeeps, lower tyre pressures recommended. Four-wheel drive/ low range will be used.
Moderate Plus - Suitable for Jeeps with All-Terrain or Mud tyres and suspension lift. Traction aids will be an advantage.
Hard - Suitable for Jeeps with All-Terrain or Mud tyres and suspension lift. Traction aids are a must.

If uncertain, trip grades can be discussed with trip leaders when you arrive at camp. All trips are day activities so take necessary food, water, sun block, hat and clothing with you. Your Jeep needs to be fuelled prior and ready to go when you arrive at the trip departure points. You will need a UHF radio in car or hand held for the trips.
Snatch Strap and appropriate rated shackles to suit your vehicle required for all off-road trips.

Thanks for posting the photos markg. The tracks are certainly interesting and we have had to change the grading on a few tracks and hills. Registrations are coming in steady.

Thanks

Having moved to Coffs a year ago, I took up an invite yesterday to do some track clearing with Michael/Jeremy (Jeep Action) and Graham and the guys (Coffs Jeep club) guys in preparation for Camp Coffs.
Well I'm glad I did, we covered some stunning countryside, creek beds, rainforest and as I quickly learnt some 'cliff faces' these guys like to call tracks!!

Being new to offroading, joining these guys yesterday was the start of something I'm sure of it, having a WG with a decent lift but only ATR tyres, I did struggle a little on the 'OVER HANGING VERTICAL FACES' (haha), but watching these professionals do it with there enthusiasm and moreover CALM approach to any issue, had me learning in leaps and bounds.

All in all I think we are so lucky up here to have these awesome majestic tracks in our back yard, only 10min from town, I certainly encourage all Jeep'ers regardless of skillls to join these guys, and learn some techniques that may otherwise take years of trial and error ($) to master.

Furthermore this outing really entrenched just how capable our Jeeps are, from the toughest ZJ I've seen through to the family 4wd truckster I drove.

I have included a picture to show this track but also it's vicinity to coffs..

I've never been to something like this before.
What is done for lunch etc?
Is it a stop and picnic type thing or do we just eat 'on the run'?

What type of food does most people take?

cheers

There is time to eat while your going and sometimes a brief eatem if you gottem stop.

What type of food does most people take?
Whatever your palette demands. Myself I load up on Hops and red meat. Thats at the end of the day though.

cheers

You will have time to make lunch in the morning or there is a fine bunch of people there to whip up a lunch and brekkie if you like.

I take sandwiches for lunch along with snacks like muesli bars and fruit and plenty of soft drinks and water, nice and easy :) Normally there is a stop for lunch, never had to eat my lunch on the go at Coffs.

Cheers

Thanks for the ideas superchicken and steve.

My family have only ever done day trips with a picnic lunch, but it's only ever been us, 1 car. And VEEEERY casual...:p

Never been in a group situation before. It's all new to us and we're looking forward to it.

All our camping has been in caravan parks, bar a few on the in-laws property where we camped on the creek bank. So, the camping side is sorted.

Counting down the days:cool: and so are the wife and kids...:D

My in-laws informed me today that I have been invited to come down and say hello and meet some of the people they know that are entangled in the coffs jeep club, All going well I'll come down and meet a few faces and learn a thing or two hopefully!

Sounds like it will be awesome.

Eric.
