G'Day

I'm planning on getting a Grand Cherokee Laredo with Quadra-Lift and the Off-road Adventure Pack.

What I'd like to know is if it is possible to get:

Alloy Bull Bar (ECB - any others?)
Long Range Tank (Long Range Automotive 75 ltr - any others?)
Snorkel (ARB in planning?)

Also, what is the preferred tyre (I know, but please keep it nice! ;) ) for rough country touring? As I understand it, it is not possible to fit a different size tyre owing to the suspension design, so it has to be in 265/60-18 or 245/65-18 I assume. The Bridgestone D697 is available in LT265/60-18. Anything else to consider?

Anything else I should know??

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Bullbars - Only ECB for now. ARB one day hopefully.
Long Range Tank - Just LRA for the moment
Snorkel - As far as I know, Airflow Vector are the only ones planning one. ARB dont make snorkels, but they sell Safari snorkels. It's impossible to get info from Safari so I guess there is nothing there.
Tyres - I know of one WK2 owner that has fitted 265/65R18 BFG A/T's. I have Cooper AT3's in 265/60R18, however if buying now I would have gone with Bridgestone D697 LT's.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I spoke to someone at ARB and they said a bar was in the works and a Safari snorkel also, but you can't believe everything they tell you, can you?

I have LT D695's on the present truck and they have been good. The 697 is "supposed" to be better...

I have Cooper AT3 and am happy with them. I've done 20,000km on them and they are starting to wear on the outside of the fronts, but the rears look brand new. I'm going to rotate them when I get a chance.

I had the Bridgestone on my previous Mitsu, but they seemed pretty hard and didn't have much grip on wet roads.

So your Coopers are 265/60-18 in Passenger construction?

I want LT if I can get it.

And, does a 265/60-18 fit in the spare tyre bay? looking in the showroom it doesn't look like it...

265/60-18 in Passenger construction?

Yes.

Cooper have a 275/65/18 in LT but I'm note sure if they will fit.

does a 265/60-18 fit in the spare tyre bay?

I still have the OME spare which is a bit smaller, but I think I read on JeepGarage that some have managed to squeeze in a full size 265/60-18, maybe you could do a seach on that site.

Yes a 265/60/18 will fit in the spare well, I have the BFG AT 265/65/18LT on mine and the one on the steel spare fits in the well but I don't think any thing bigger would

Thanks for that. Nothing bigger would get around the front suspension anyway, would it?

On a long trip I would usually carry two spares, the second on the roof I suppose.

At present I have matching tyres and wheels on the camper - a VistaRV Crossover - so I might think about changing those over, too.

Hi NT,

Not trying to throw a cat amongst the pigeon but how close are you to buying one.

reason i ask is the new 'upgraded one' was released yesterday, apart from face lift new sat nav gizzmos the biggest deal for me at least is the 8 x speed auto, diesel making 730 miles (1168 kms) a tank.

I think the v6 should be good for approx 1,000 clicks or close too & Hemi possibly 850

Off track but Welcome over NT, there are a few from Isuzus over here now! Can i suggest when you get a chance, throw a write up on the CrossOver in the camper trailer section, they are pretty unique. I remember when you bought it!
Matt.

Yep - I'm another one! The ol' Jackaroo is still serving and towing faithfully but I'm keeping a keen eye on the JGC CRD.

Back on topic: I had Bridgestone D697's fitted 9 months ago. Always ran BFG AT/KO's before. The D697's have much better on-road grip (wet or dry) and are much quieter. As for wear, only time will tell (the BFG's were excellent in that regard).
