Good to see.
Wooders is a good source of knowledge and bits.
Also get on www.IFSJA.com
BJ's Offroad is also a good site to source bits like weather strips, trim parts etc.

So, 360 and auto?

Thanks mate! :)

I was dreading finding weather strips...
I wanted a 360, but they're a bit hard to come by (I know they surface every once and a while) I've got a donor truck lined up (The one i was asking you about) It's got the box and tranny i want... The previous restorer fabricated the mounts for a 351C, but I'm still tossing between the two.

Auto I'd prefer, but if the granny first is granny enough, I'll be happy

Subscribed :-)

I'm guessing you're going with a desert tan paint job? Personally I'm seriously considering the new Dune JK colour for our XJ. Got a spot of paint to repair and one side had a dodge repair that's getting bad.

Hahah I'm considering it, it'll either get a desert tan or a white with AMC red and blue :)

Posting some pics from a few days ago, I got to work chiseling and wire wheeling the floor pans, the drivers side is quite good, the passengers side is a bit gone, i can still jump on it, but i might do it anyway.

I took off my rose tinted spectacles to find that every rust bubble in the paint was hiding a hole, and this dodgy bastard had simply bogged over the rust, then bogged in dents, and bogged the joins in panels... then applied spray putty :wall:

It seems I may have to take this whole thing back to the metal :(

OK, Coming along great! I'm just about at rust eater/ body filler stage, I've working like a trojan on these panels, with all the black primer im going through, we'll be going all black soon! :p

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=61403&d=1366780292

All the layers of body filler!

http://www.ausjeepoffroad.com/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=61402&d=1366780292

My First F$%#&%^$*^@$^%$&%$^&**&!!!!!! Moment, I'm tring to get this thing to sit, I've relocated both the leaves, however the shackle keeps inverting, I'm thinking if i load them with a G clamp, they'd extend, my shackle would work, but with no weight on there it would invert again...
I could go leaf over then run an inverted shackle, or I Could move the rear mount forward.

ultimately we will have a coil sprung rear, but I'd like to make stage 1 a simple restoration.

I couldn't be arsed to waste time relocating the spastic rear shackle hanger, I've Got a pretty technical link set up happening here :D I've got the numbers pretty close to how I want them... If there is enough demand for an explaination of the numbers I'll consider making a full in depth write up of the workings of triangular 4 link...

This looks remarkably different to most 4 link set ups.. but that's my plan  It's very nice to be building off a bare cab chassis... all the other stuff get's to be intergrated around the raw capability of the truck... still trying not to go down th Truggy path.. For now :p
