Hi All, just been informed my windscreen washer reservoir is leaking and needs to be replaced. Dealer quoted $1000.00 just for the reservoir,WTF. Does anyone know the correct part # for a replacement part? Just want to compare with what I have found out of the US. 2013 MY14 model.

Regards

I have read that the part number is 57010719AF but no first hand experience ordering and fitting one:

I can't vouch for the part number but fitting one would be pretty easy. I remember looking at it while doing my intercooler. Once you have the front bumper off (approx 5 minutes) you can get to it pretty easy.

Thanks Benn0, appreciate the help. Just got the service info from the dealer and the part # matches yours. Having a hard time justifying $1019.00 + GST.

Wow that's a bit different to $1000.

I just got a quote for a genuine towbar to be fitted when GC goes in for S49 and got quoted $995. Got a third party Jeep specialist to quote and said $950. Pretty even. Was $850 supply only. For $100 can;t be bothered installing myself.

Google MOPAR America & check their part(s)breakdown diagrams. They list a Laredo/Limited reservoir for $162 USD plus postage. Give them your VIN & they'll let you know if the part will fit.

Cheers

Not sure about other sites but make sure you type in your VIN for mopar america. I bought colour coded handles off them and they sent LHD drive ones (rear doesn't matter but fronts do). They ended up sending me the new ones free and paid for postage back to america. I was lucky I read the shipping page as it said they guarantee the right part if you supply the VIN. They originally said bad luck until I pulled the quote from their website. Their excuse was that they don't deal in export much so it is not on their radar. Always seem to be the cheapest places and I would and have bought from them again.

Do not pay to have the reservoir replaced. These are a known issue, I had mine replaced out of the warranty period. If anything use the price quoted for one against them, ask them how they can explain a $1000 plastic bottle failing EVER?! Clearly the one that was fitted to your vehicle was not fit for purpose.

Had one replaced under insurance (Roo strike). I tried to fix original while waiting to have vehicle repaired. Nothing wanting to stick to original plastic even tried to plastic weld it but it still leaked. Fairly easy to remove from memory.

Wow, I just priced a rainwater tank for my backyard, for just under a $1000 you can get a 5000 litre tank. That washer bottle must be some damn fine plastic.......

Imagine if you priced a rainwater tank made by jeep! It would cost $100,000 and leak!

Thanks to all who commented, appreciate your thoughts and views. This is a great community. Well I purchased the washer bottle off Fleabay for $255.00 AUD incl shipping, should see it in a couple of weeks. Hopefully the aftermarket one is better than original. Still perplexed how before I put it in for service it wasn't leaking, no wet patch on my concrete etc, then as soon as they look at it it leaks. Never mind, will probably never know.
Thanks again everyone.

mike, hope it goes well. I've suffered the Australia tax on Jeep parts since I bought my first Jeep, 2003 KJ in 2003. I have continually resolved to purchase through the US Mopar websites and 99% of the time it works out. I had several drivetrain mods/repairs with the KJ and would have not been able to afford the builds readily if it wasnt for overseas purchases. I purchased all the matts, floor and boot, for my 12 WK2 Overland from the US as well as oil filters. It is a pity that in all these years we dont have a process to help all Jeep owners out with bulk shipping or other purchase assistance. Its a big community and we all feel the stealership pinch.

Honestly once your waranty is done there is absolutely no way you should be dealing with Chrisler Jeep service centres. They just try and pull the wool over you at any opportunity. It's called Gravy work, get you in the door with an advertised discount service price or useless extended warranty that doesn't cover anything and hook you up for something you don't need. They gamble you wont know any better, it's auto industry 101 and Chrysler are among the worst offender's.

You forgot to mention a important part of Jeep/Chrysler customer gouging steps, build in below average reliability, to keep them rivers of gold flowing to the dealers.

Contacted FCA direct and got a reply in 1 working day that they have approved a "Goodwill replacement" for the washer bottle.:p May keep the one that is coming from the US as a spare.

I wonder if they over filled/pressurized the washer bottle with a tap hose ie: bottle fills up quickly then gets over pressured & splits due to the hand holding the hose covering the filler neck.

I might be a bit late, but I had a similar problem with my 2012 Cherokee and dealer quoted some ridiculous price. Got under and had a closer look myself and it turned out the water was leaking from the tubing that supplies the headlight washers. Then running down the reservoir.
As far as I know headlight washers are not fitted to Oz spec models but all the plumbing is still there. I simply disconnected tubing and blocked it off.

Headlight washers are definitely fitted to Oz models, look at the panel/fitting just below the headlights, that's where the washer is and operates roughly every ten or so times the windscreen washers are used. The headlight washers are a mandated requirement when HID lights are fitted to a vehicle, which is every WK2 Grand Cherokee in Australia.

The dealership initially quoted over $1000 to replace mine. I simply asked them to explain how, under Australian consumer law, they could justify a $1000 plastic bottle failing, EVER. Mine was replaced under goodwill.

For reference if you ever need to buy one simply bypass the Stealership and get one from the states, probably get it quicker anyway...

Here's an example that includes the pump, sensor and cap for US$170 https://www.moparpartsoverstock.com/p/Jeep_2013_Grand-Cherokee-Limited-4x2--57L-V8-HEMI-MDS-VVT--6-Spd-Automatic-65RFE/RESERVOIR-Windshield-Washer-X83--X83--Includes-Reservoir--Pump--Sensor--Grommet-And-Cap--X83-Includes-Reservoir--Pump--Sensor--Grommet-And-Cap--Comple/11288931/55079365AF.html

That's the first I have heard about that. I thought that panel was for some headlight wiper option not available in Oz. Seams a bit pointless squirting water on them with no wiper ? Oh well 2 less bits of kit to worry about. Everything is a bit 'fragile' around that area including the washer reservoir.

Washes any dust or the like off, which otherwise has the potential to diffuse the light coming out of the HID projectors, possibly blinding other motorists

It his more than a squirt more like a high pressure sprayer.
