Side view shows where GOJEEP :D took to my flares with a box cutter, trimmed them down to suite the finished lower edge of the bar. Also the front rubber skirt was removed.

I take it it wouldn't effect the airbag and stuff? Need to get rid of my bumber and get something decent onto it.. was also looking at making a ARB TJ style hoop in the middle.. just to mount lights and stuff on.. don't know how I'd do it.. I can't weld.. and kinda skint on the $$ side of things! (atleast until tax refund!)

I dont think any bullbar can really affect the airbag.. from my understand the airbag goes off when the car goes from 45km/hr to 0km/hr in 0 seconds.

Just out of curiousity.. is there something wrong with the bar arb makes for XJ's?

When you come to a sudden stop it slides up makes a contact & a relay fires the air bag. So front bars do not effect the bag deployment.

Any changes made by fitting bullbars do have an effect on the airbag deployment by changing the crash pulse if they are significantly stiffer in construction. This is because the standard bumper is design to crush at a certain rate and therefore absorb the impact. If the bumper is made stiffer the crash pulse is made higher due to less being absorbed by the bumper and therefore transferring more into the body mounts and frame behind it. ARB make the bullbar out of the same thickness as the stock bumper ( 2.5 mm ). A non airbag bar are made out of 3 mm where as the same one like for a FJ80 is made from 2.5.
The good news is that is does not stop the airbags from deploying at all. It just means that they will go off at a lower speed as the sensors detects the preset G force earlier.
Lets say that the sensor is set to go off at 3 G's of force. A stock vehicle might reach this at 45 kmh when hitting a wall. Fit a Bullbar made out of 5 mm steel and the 3 G's might be reached at 30 kmh instead due to the lack of impact absorption.
Hope this makes it easier to understand ;)
