Sorry for the stupid question but anyway ...

If anyone has a Cherokee Limited can they tell me if it came with rear moulded mud flaps as standard ?

I asked the dealer to add front and rear mud flaps but he assures me the Limited comes with rear mud flaps already fitted and I need only add front ones.

Every pic I have seen in brochures has no rear mud flaps and I forgot to look at this when I was at the dealership.

Thanks.

i have a 2001 and only little flaps on back. i dont think they are standard fitted. (a) get ripped off perhaps (b) lots of $'s to be made by jeep as after sales

I have an 02 Limited. It came standard with rear only plastic mudflaps about 12 inches long. They looked ugly and i ripped the drivers side one off second time we went on the beach. I also know some one else with a Limited and they too ripped the drivers side one off in soft sand. I have replaced them now with "shorter ones" from Jeep. These look much nicer in my opinion and have not been damaged yet. Hope this helps.

P.S. no such thing as a dumb question.

Hi Jeep Fan, I am into my second KJ and they do come with rear mud flaps, and they are tooo long so instead of buying shorter ones I just trimmed about 75 mm off the existing flaps and don't have any more problems.Its also cheaper.

Thanks everyone ! Good info here.

Also, anyone have any recommendations on aftermarket bullbars and towbars, ie. TJM or someone else ? I am not after a full width bullbar but something to mount some extra fog lights on.

I have also read the Jeep towbar isn't so good.

What have you heard about the tow bars? A friend of mine has a Jeep tow bar and has had no problems. Have you seen the Jeep nudge bar?

I was about to fit a TJM Nudge bar but plans have changed. Out of about 20 people i know who have seen the TJM Bar my wife & I are the only ones who like it. I have seen the full ARB bar on a KJ colour coded at our local dealership here i brissy and i personally arent that keen on it. I have seen lots of "genuine" Jeep nudge bars and i think they are quite okay looking. I havent seen an ARB nudge bar yet. However i also quite like the look of the East Coast Bars Series 2 76mm Bar. As i have seen one of those fitted on a KJ as well. Go have a look at www.ecb.com.au (http://www.ecb.com.au) and they have all the pics on their site. Hope i have been of help.

KayJay01, do you recall how much your replacement mud flaps were? and did you get them from your local jeep dealer?
Also, my renegade has the factory side steps on it, obviously they hang a bit low, do you think it would be wise to take them off whenever I go off road? Could I damage them?

Hey Ren;
will chase up paper work today on mudflaps prices. It's up to you on the steps,but as a rule steps can cause probs of any 4wd of any " height ". Obviously it all relates to where you go and what you do. I would personally prefer not to have them for off-road driving on any 4wd

thanks Kayjay, but dont go to any trouble. Just a ball park idea on the price is more than fine.
cheers

Hey Ren;
cant find my paperwork but am told i paid $ 85 pair. I'm also told to tell you to contact Rob Harris at Adelaide City Jeep and he will fix you up. Mine didnt include fitting. Also was told today that the OEM nudge bar doesnt include spotlight mounts. So if you mainly want spottie mounts the OEM isnt the way to go then. Check it out first and do your homework thoroughly. Good Luck. Keep me Posted.

BTW also on the subject of the latest KJ Jeep what do you guys think of the pedal placement ? I notice the accelerator pedal is set a fair way back compared to the brake pedal.

Jeep fan, yep agree the go pedal was a little hard to find. am use to it now, but when someone else gets in the car they have some issues (much to my amusment).

I agree about the loud pedal - when I had a test drive I thought someone had stolen the bl**dy thing! But after 4,000km I don't give it a second thought. After all, it's not as though I have to heel & toe the gear changes.

Re your querie about the nudge bar best thing is to go with what you and wife like after all it is your vehicle

The reason we have held back on the bar is that I have heard an "unofficial" whisper that TJM will have something new in the nudge bar Dept for KJ's in the very near future so waiting to see what it is. Dont really need anything till late October as we are going to Birdsville Races in September so will wait and see. For the record have absolutely no probs with pedal placements.
