I elected to start a new thread cos the old one had BIG pictures in it and can get annoying d/ling them every time.
SO here are two problems i have come up against.
How the HELL do i get the torx bolts out of the chassie to attach the bracket to?
I have tried and i am afraid of breaking the torx bit!
also how do i remove the mirror bit from the old bracket???
here are photos.....

To get the torx bolts out, get a good breaker bar, keep plenty of pressure holding the bit into the bolt while turning.
To get the mirror off the bracket, look underneath--it just takes an 11/16" or 17mm socket to remove.

If you've already taken the bolt and spring out, then I'd imagine that the mirror is just a bit stuck. Will it turn on the bracket? You could try soaking with a bit of Inox or WD-40 for a while to loosen up the corrosion, then brace the bracket with something so it won't move and tap the bottom of the stud (that you took the bolt and spring off) with a rubber mallet. It should pop right out, mine did (although my mirrors had been folded up against the side of the Jeep a number of times before I tried to take them off--shipping you know).
