Does anyone know of a good service centre. I have a Jeep Wrangler Renegade 1997 model. I live in Sydney (Eastern Suburbs) and last time took it to the local dealer near South Head Road, But ended up feeling that I was being conned and ripped off so they could charge me lots of $$$$$$$$$$s.

If anyone can recommend somewhere thats honest interested and will be straight about what needs to be done and then do it properly and charge a real price then I would like to know where they are.

Thanks alot

DIY? (my preference).

I've found SVM Chatswood & Wagon Wheels Burwood to be not bad...but still dealers and you get stung with dealer part prices & they still aren't as thorough & knowledgable as I'd prefer.

Lastly look at the top of this screen and click on Suburban4wd - they are at Minchinbery which IS a long way from the eastern suburbs - but Mick & Mark are Jeep nuts and know what they are doing (& then some)....Just watch the modification bug when you visit the showroom ;)

BTW Welsome aboard - now get your butt to a Sydney Jeep Club Meeting (held at above mentioned Suburban 4wd showroom)....

Thanks Wooders - I will do Chatswood this time until I can work out the Minchinbury logistics:)

And yes will try to get to Jeep Club meet soon:)

here richard, i'll give you a hand here :D

10 easy steps to Suburban 4WD for wednesday nigth meeting.

from eastern suburbs,
1, find your way to the city,
2, then find parramatta road,
3, then drive straight till you hit the Motorway M4,
4, then drive straight till you hit the toll gates, and have AUD&2.20 ready.
5, then keep going till you get to Roper Road / Eskin Park Road exit. which is the exit after "WonderLand"
6, then turn right roper road,
7, then 1st Round-a-bout, turn right,
8, then 1st R-A-B turn right,
9, then straight through the second R-A-B
10, then first on your left, and you will see jeeps...

Cheers :D

EDIT:
and i services my jeep at SVM at chaswood as well, they are pretty cool, but remember that services are expensive no matter where you go, and jeep are just expensive... smile.gif

cheers

Just watch out for a new XJ doing locked up donuts! :D

If you get lost, try sitting on the side of the M4 with your hazards on. If you're lucky, one or two jeeps should pull over ;)

BTW SVM at Chatswood are pretty good, they dont mind if your jeep's dirty. If they tell you that some parts need replacing, dont get them to do it, jeep parts are too expensive!

What about Traction 4x4 - that mob at Artarmon?

PS. I'm a frustrated eastern suburbs jeep owner as well - would love to get out to Mick, but can't take a day off work!!!

Traction 4 aren't a bad mob - but seriously they are better on the 'yota & datsun stuff.
If the objective is service the I'd go to Chatswood Jeep (just don't get their parts ;) ) if it's Modification - it's hard to beat Mick in Sydney....

So if I dont get parts from SMV - where do I get them from? I can unscrew and rescrew stuff but if it gets too much more complex then I will be way past my skills level redface.gif

Still SMV have it now so we will see what they come up with.

I was a little surprised when I went into SMV to find they also own York Motors the mob that I was trying not to use cos of previous experience :( Cant win can you!!!! graemlins/headspin.gif

Didnt make last Wednesday as am in Perth - maybe get there in about 2 weeks graemlins/crying.gif

Just get them to tell you what parts you need to fix/replace & get Mick @ Suburban to sort it out. Usually there is a 3rd party version you can get which will be better (e.g front brakes, 1/2 the price for a better pair).

Talking servicing and brakes...i got my 74K service ovcerdue and i reckon my brakes need new pads and prob machining. In the latest 4WD Monthly (i think  ) there was an add about some new brake pads called [B]Neptune Titanium[B} imported from Canada that are supposedly good. I think Auto Alliance are the importers.

Anyone had any experience with these??

Sorry to bump such an old thread - but hey at least I used the search :)

I just bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee V8 - 1999 today - woo hoo.

Its done 147k and Im sure it missed the last service. Took it to Jeep in Bayswater Kings Cross and they wanted $1200 ish to do the service.

Any recommendations in the Sydney City area ?

I have a dealer 3 month warranty and then on top of that a 5 year 3rd party so would kind of like it checked out thoroughly so if anything major needs to be done the dealer can sort it (so the theory goes). NRMA inspection gave it a clean bill of health but only so much you can do from the side of the road I imagine.

Had the aircon on full today and seems a bit weak. Anyway to tell if it would need re-gassing already ? Also the aircon fan stopped working - but came back on around 3 mins later. Is this a warning of some impending danger - or is it the car telling me to lose some weight and trying to saunarise me.

Thanks in advance...

Angus

If I knew of these places I wouldn't be without my Jeep for 9 months now. Still under repairs at the "so called EXPERTS". I hope no one goes through what my family and I are going through.
