just after some advice from you people

on my way home today my car just stalled and broke down, and of course it had to be in the right hand lane. had NRMA come but those ********s know nothing - hopeless
i have no ignition and therefore no fuel is passing through -had to have it towed to my mechanic.

the error code that came up was 54 - no cam shaft signal detected during engine cranking.

i understand what this means but why???
has anyone else had a problem with this?
is it common?
what am i up for if the sensor is stuffed? (well if i buy it off the stealerships, i might as well get a new car but from mascot motors, what you reckon???

HELP it's only been a few hours and i already miss my my poor jeep. i got a tear coming out of my eye, i can't believe it's stuffed

This fron Naxja.org site tech forum:

"The first suspect is always the CPS. This is the Crank Position Sensor (aka speed sensor). It's located at the 11 O'clock position on the bell housing. Locate it and follow the cable up to the connector (near firewall on driver's side). With an ohmeter, measure the resistance at the connector. It should be around 200 ohms. If you have a voltmeter, set it to AC and the lowest voltage range. When you crank the engine, it should measure .5 to .7 volts (500 to 700 millivolts).

After the CPS, check the fuel pump relay. Locate the relay rack on the passenger side (under the cover). This is the second relay in from the front. Swap it with another one and see if this makes a difference"

No personal experience here, just thought it might help.

No Real Mechanics Available.

This was proven to me, when the nrma guy set my engine of my old commy on fire. He then proceeded to blow it out with his mouth. Dumb ass!!

Very often it is just the connector to the CPS as it can get crud in it. Just clean it and see if that all it needs.
