Sunday 2nd March 2003 is Clean Up Australia Day.

As a Sydney Jeep Club trip we have the Menai Area booked. This is also being orgainised with the 4wdNSW&ACT Association, and will infact be the start of monthly cleanups of the area.

This will not only help our profile for the community, but will also help us retain access to the Menai area. We realise that there is a LOT to clean away (hence the ongoing cleanup), but this should be a good way to get the ball rolling.

I encourage all those that enjoy this area to register on this event to help our ongoing access.

The Cleanup Australia group and the Sutherland Council will be providing a Skip Bin (possibly 2) to assist. Also as an extra incentive, all participants will be put into a raffle draw for a range of prizes from the Council.

The meeting point will be Gate 8 at 8:30.
Please register with me (0413-138-550) (http://mailto:wooders@optusnet.com.au) preferably before Friday.

What to bring:
- Safe Footware
- Gloves (although I will be providing some - I'd recommend you bring good quality leather gloves).
- Lunch

Optional:
- Shovel, rake, etc
- Recovery Gear
- Trailer

Yes we should also get a chance to do some 4x4ing too ;)

Wiz,

Whatever & whomever you can bring is only going to help us.
It's a big task and so I don't think we could have too many people or too many accessories to help.....But we'll just get done what we can.....

So anyone else prepared to help out??

Wooders, Do the organisers provide bags for rubbish and a collection point??

Disposal will be via:
* Sutherland Council are (suposedly - I need to confirm) providing a Large Mini Skip,
* CleanUp Aust will be providing me with bags for rubbish - but I suspect these will be smallish.
* There are "disposal" points within Menai where Rangers will collect rubbish (I'm confirming the exact number & location with 4wdNSW&ACT).
* SIMS metal have been advised that there might be metal for recycling - I'm doing a quick reccy on Saturday and will confirm with them what I antcipate will be recovered for them to collect.
* We will have free access to Menai tip - which isn't far.
* I will be binging extra gargabe bags etc _ if anyone else would like to bring any along to - again it's only going to help.....

Orgainisers? LOL it's singular currently ;)

BTW for anyone debating:

The target cleanup is the main trail between Gate8 and the Mud Flats (if you knows where I means).
The "offical" time I've set for the cleanup is 8:30am - 1:00pm...So you can always easily do a runner if you can't alocate a full day - and afterwards we'll do a run on the trail :D :D

Does that make it easier for any fence sitters? tongue.gif Any Questions?
