View Full Version : WA: Queens Birthday Long Weekend
Steve

Been hanging out for a trip. The Queens Birthday Long Weekend at the end of September might be the go. Would be great to have ALL of us WA Boys out on a trip. Bit of Camping and wheeling down at Mornington anyone? Or any suggestions for other locations closer to Perth maybe? Somebody must know someone with some private land in the hills?
I'm not 100% sure what will be happening at the time for me. But even if by chance I couldn't make it, I thought it would be good to get as many people together as possible so we can get the Jeep Thing happening in the West! It's getting better and better!

What about OFFROAD CAMPERS
Steve
06-08-2003, 09:37 AM
Well then maybe this would be even better. We could all meet there and do some spectating then? Can you camp there at all? Not that I'd need to as my bro-in-law lives in Muchea.

OK dudes scrap the Mornington idea. I just found out I'll be in Perth the week preceeding the Queens B-Day Long weekend. Here's my idea. Since Wolf and Duncan will be competing we need to show up and fly the Jeep Flag. So if the rules allow we could all help them out on Friday night get ready for Sat mornings events. My Bro-in-law has a 15 acre property in Muchea about a 15 minute drive from Bullsbrooke. Where exactly is the event being held anyway Duncan/Wolf? If anyone is interested I'll ask him if he minds if us "Jeepers" camp out on his property. I'm sure he won't. Saves paying for a campsite at the event.
So we camp Friday night and Sat night for those who want to attend both days events. And being an alcohol free event makes me pretty sure that no one will be allowed to drink staying at an event sanctioned campsite. So that's another vote for the rellies joint. Anyways let me know what ya think and we can work out all the details.

That sounds cool steve, never been to a 4x4 event, wouldnt mind checking it out, and flying the "jeep" flag :)
Don't think Ill be making it down to Perth for a while yet so will miss this one.. :(

Dave! At least you have an excuse now like I do! Even more so now! I hope us WA Jeepers can all pull together on this one and get out there and be proud Jeepers! Maybe even try and arrange a short trip somewhere after the days events?????

Guys that would be great as im planning on staying at the vennue Friday night as srutinering is at 8.00am sharp aparently its alchol free so that the insurance would be cheaper but have been told unofficaly that if you camp away from the main vennue in the pine forrest you could have a couple of quiet ones as for comming over to have a few beers at night im not sure but there is a night event just dont no if we have to compete or not as i think its a team event seperate will find out soon as should be getting details this week
the only bumer is that we are competing in my car a nissan gq lwb would have been great to see wolfs car competeing could just inagine how pissed the other guys would be to see wolfs car on the ramp and it would piss in the show and shine to
Would be great to see a heap of TJs and Cheeros at the event maybe the WA Jeep club could show up Julie will be taking her TJ shes pulling the camper up for us
Remember still looking for a team name and logo

Well dudes this one is off for me! The IT Training Provider has cancelled this course for a second time so I'll no longer be coming down on this weekend. I have since re-scheduled a totally different course with a new training provider for the first week of December. Great time off the year to camp in Mornington! I'll take an extra day or two off so I can go to Harvey for the weekend of Dec 6 and 7 and head back to Gero on Monday the 8th if anyone is interested in that weekend! No fun wheelin alone! With post another trip thread in early November to gauge interest at the time. But this is your first warning to make plans for a free weekend!

The event is taking place at Camp Kerem the directions I was given were Kirby Road West Bullsbrook 800meters past the Maze heading west along Neeves Road Im sure there will be some more publicity as I saw a flyer at a wrecking yard the over day we are leaving Rockingham about lunch time on Friday so should be there early afternoon scrutinering is 8.00am sharp Saturday morning followed by a show and shine then a wheel travel ramp test then the cars will be split into 2 groups to do the rest of the course there are 73 cars enterd

OK, I have a theory, been in the workings for a while.
I beleive that STEVE (from Geraldton ) and TJ-LESS DAVE (from some camel farm in woop woop )are in fact .....................the same person! ! Think about it...has anyone ever seen them together???? Has anyone ever seen this elusive STEVE ??? THEY...HE tries to put us off with this play fued thing, but we know the truth.
The only way to prove me wrong is to show up on the KNIGHT OWL CHALLENGE.
And bring a carton of BEER!!!!
So there you go our very own X-FILE.

WOLF,
Those are fighting words! Here's an idea! Why don't you all drive 400 kilometers to Geraldton? As Oscar and Phil and Ex-Jeepr Dale are the only ones of you I've met so I think the rest of you are TJ-LESS DAVE!
WOLF I'd love to come down, but really it's not worth the trouble using a tank of petrol to get to Perth unless I'm gonna use another one to get to Harvey to do some real driving! Honestly in previous years before the house building I would always try to get to Harvey at least 3 times a year. Trust me mate it's killing me this year! It costs me at least $600 every trip I take to Harvey and back counting petrol, beer and food. Most of it in beer of course!
Steve

BTW it's 569.6 kilometers from my front door to the campsite at Mornington! How's that for sucking real bad?
OK,
I think all the WA jeepers should get together for a fund raiser event?
We could call it ...THE GET STEVE TO PERTH TO GO 4X4ING.It would be like getting an exchange student for a weekend,HA! HA! HA!
Just joking mate, but honestly some of the guys would love to catch-up and have a little get together.Distance is a mager problem,I know I used to live WAY up north in TOM PRICE about 2000km nrth.Thats about a 15 hr drive (OUCH!)
One day hey?

Forgot to mention Glenn. Wheeled with him several times oh and Jason but he's hardly ever here. Yeah I'll get there mate don't worry. Just have other priorities right now. I would have been down next weekend if it wasn't for the stupid IT Training Provider cancelling the course. But like I said I should be down first week on December so we'll have to do a run somewhere or another! As far as the fund raiser goes that sounds like a great idea!

Glen I think you should sell the TJ it might rust out before you get to use it again only joking hope to see you out again soon for all those that missed it tuff luck it was great some good cars and great times plus a lux rolling it on the sand dune hilights of the week end were watching Lindon s CJ6 make it to the top of the sand dune i think only 2 other vehicles made it and he was stuck in high range after fitting a body lift that didnt let the lever go into low range fully also seeing my co driver calf deep in stinking mud tryind to undo a shackle because we had to be toed out backwards always thought Wolf needed a mud bath and boy can he run when doing the navigator challeng of a run with a battery then rolling tyres all I can say is you should have been there poor showing from the Jeep guys of WA mud hunter was that you in a bluey grey colored TJ with the tyres way outside the guards that was on the far side of the track

Yep that was me,
With the other half about to drop, the officials let us park there, really nice of them.
It was a great weekend, it was nice to see a jeep first on Hella Hill.
Especially as every onre in the crowd kept going on about how good the Nissans were.
Which car were you in?
