Ladies and Gentlemen. :D

I'm going to be heading up to the ZigZag railway on Sunday 4th April with a couple of friends to have a play and test out my diff ratios and coils. If anyone cares to join me, I'd be most happy for them to tag along. :P

I'll be meeting up with those going in front of Australia's Wonderland (Walgrove Road) at 9am and cruising up to ZigZag for the day.

If you're interested in going, please drop a message in here or message me.

-Ben

Any particular trails in mind maddog? Is it Just the usual C or C+ grade classics?

maddog
29-03-2004, 08:08 AM
It's C/C+ with some B options I guess. I plan on visiting the mud area, the big climb with the large round rock climb at the end of it, the lost city, range of bob, and then do a bit of exploring. But I'm open for suggestions from whoever comes.

Bogged, the trail is suitable for stock vehicles, and there will be at least 3 stockers coming. Any difficult bit has a bypass.

Im in....

- Ben do you want to convoy it from Engadine again?

- My brother has a stock 80 series land cruiser - do you think he'd be ok?

maddog
30-03-2004, 10:30 AM
For those on the south side, convoying from Engadine Maccas (opposite the train station) sounds like a plan. We'll meet there at 8:00am to allow time to gather everyone up and head out to Wonderland in time for 9:00pm. There's at least 1, maybe 2 others that we'll be meeting there as well.

We'll be on channel 22 UHF, as usual.

Your brother's stocker 80 series should be fine. If we come across anything difficult, there's always bypasses.

Here's the list of who's going so far:

me - TJ
Lachlan - TJ
Bill - Grand Cherokee (stock)
Eddie - Land Cruiser FJ40
Emilio - GU Patrol (stock)
Kevin - Land Cruiser 60 series I think (stock)
Mark - GQ Patrol (stock)
Tigger - TJ (+ mate)
Steve - Range Rover (stock)
Bogged - XJ

Maybe's

Chris - Toyota Hilux

I've already told everyone the meeting location. I don't really want to change it this late in the piece, or we'll have issues trying to gather people up from all over the place

Man what a day - just got home 1/2 hour ago (now 1am) -

Ben i think you should write a report - was kinda fun how the jeeps became the rescue vehicles **)

(there is mud everywhere)

maddog

hehe yeah I'll try and put a report together for here and/or the SJC mag. I got home just after midnight. So tired..

Thanks again for your help with vehicle recovery yesterday Jase. TJ's to the rescue :P

I'll post a URL for pics soon. I've got pics from 3 different cameras! So if anything came out of the day, we should get some good pics.

really pushed the stockers to the limits - was very impressed at what marty's stock TJ (disco'd) could do with 400k's on the clock he was stuck in mud, dented his door sill on a rock but tackled the tougher terrain better than the patrols etc. (are you reading this rockhampton Tj??)... this trip made me feel a little better for spending so many $$$ on the TJ - the funniest was when the stranded pajero saw maddog and i drive where they couldnt go - the kids were saying "daddy look at the monster trucks!"

newnes is fun at night - especially when you are on a rescue mission to save a stranded nissan 8)

here are some pics, more in my gallery... maddog will have some better i think.

Not saying you were as I was not there but the photos look that way

Just make sure when your out for fun you dont ruin it for everyone and get the place locked up

Ummm. We were definately not in private property. We visited most of the popular areas, and nothing more.

What makes you think we were in private property from those pictures anyway?

Hmmm... hate to say it, but there are two quarries up there. You chose the private one with the dumped cars in it. The forestry mob are a bit pissed at the dumped cars, and this is why they have fenced it off.

Best not to get caught in there.

There is another open quarry a little further up the trail, around the fenceline to the left. Go a couple of kays and you're there.

Yep, we screwed up. The trip was on Saturday. Was there a few weeks ago with some other non jeep people and they went in there. I had never been there before but they said it was ok. I thought the top quarry was the closed one. Unfortunatelty what was done was done and i humbly apologise for being stupid and not really checking it out properly. I have taken down the photos in question and hope it doesnt cause any trouble. Hope this thread doesnt turn into another one of these long fights. Those of you who know me hopefully realise i am not the sort of person who goes anywhere and ruins the enviroment and knowingly does stupid stuff. Hope it clarrifies a few things. And apologies again.
