View Full Version : AusJeepoffroad Tassie Trip
We are looking at leaving 7th of Feb and arriving back on either the 15th or 16th, have to work that one out.
The trip will certainly be going ahead with 12 possible starters now.
Plans are:
7th Board the Spirit of Tassie in Port Melb
8th arrive in Tassie and head to Strahan
9th head down through Cradle mountain National Park and into Hobart.
10-12th Use Hobart as a base to have a look at the sights, head down to Port Arthur etc
13-14 Coles bay, this includes Wineglass Bay etc Kylie x 2 30th B'days!!!!!
14th Head to Launceston.
15th Jump back on the boat home.
Now this is only a loose plan at the moment and if anyone wants to change where they want to go they can just divert off and meet up with us else where.
We will probably add another day in there somewhere so we are not rushing around etc.
But as I said this a rough plan for now so people can start putting in for leave etc.

Did Someone say Tassie?????
Went there a number of years ago before I got my licence, and swore I'd never go back.... unless I had a $x$ that is..... count me in for the moment!

Put me in the list, I hate the boat though. I went over in Janurary and slept on the couches in the lounge. Someone put up there hand to take my car on, I will fly over with my pilot mate and meet you all there.

Lex,
Wen and I are looking at our leave plan for January and February. We have missed out on other trips like the Jambo and the Cape trip this year, but may be able to join in on this one.
Will let you know.
Take Two will happily put your Jeep on for ya, just need to work out the particulars.
Dave'n'Wen would be great to have you guys come along.

I'm interested in this :D
More the merrier!!!!
Lexx - just returned from a week in Tassie in a Britz 6 berth camper - the big one - sensational!! There appear to be hundreds of tracks all up the West coast through Strahan and all the way up to Burnie - and most of them looked wet as I drove past........ I don't know how far they go though, as there are a lot of dams etc in the area and a lot may just be access tracks?
On the positive side, I did manage to hook up the camper due to shit ramp over - front wheel about a foot off the deck, opposit rear off the ground as well - had to be pulled out by a Subaru! Didn't have a chance for photos, as I was waiting for a car to come flying around the corner and clean me up, as I was stuck across a road as I was trying to reverse down a driveway...... VERY FUNNY!!!!

Guys,
An itinery(probably spelled that wrong) will be put up next week of dates ,times and places we will be , so people can start to think serious about the trip.
As Lexx said, "the more the merrier", it shall be an awesom JEEP adventure.
YAYY even if I have to dip into my house deposit I am going to try make this adventure
WE NEED NUMBERS BY THE END OF THIS WEEK, so we can get the best possable prices on accomidation. So please anyone who has expressed interest please let either Buddha or myself know.

LEXX, I've looked through this Forum and it looks like you haven't finalised prices or dates etc...which although you wanted final numbers 2 months ago, I would like to be put down as a definite possibility :) :?:
It looks like it's mostly TJ's but there's no indication of difficulty in any of the posts...but I'd like to think I'd be OK with anything up to Very Difficult (ie. less than Extreme). Eventhough my entry and exit angles are worse when compared to those with shorter wheel bases, by then I should have my sliders and front diff guard (and possibly some more armour if we have that day at your place before then ??) so I'll be more able to say "stuff it" and drop in to more than I would at the moment...but if I'm the only LWB then I wouldn't want to hold anyone up
Let me know your thoughts.
Brett...
you can assume my spot bdash.. as much as I wish I could still go.. I dont think they would go too hard.. its along drive home hehe
