It's googles new webmail but it has better features than hotmail or yahoo. It's still in testing phase right now so you can only get an account through an invite from google or someone who has spare invites. The extra storage space is what i like though...

Its completely random as far as anyone can tell. I've got a few mates that barely use their account and yet he's been given something like 50+ invites to give out over the past month or so, where as high users are lucky to get one.

after reading about the way google scans and archives every email you send or receive and that after 180 days any email you send is no longer legally private and can be passed on to anyone I will not be replying to anyone who sends me mail from a gmail account.

Are you serious? People can search and see any of your gmail emails? I didn't recall seeing anything like that in their terms and conditions. Are you sure it's not a hoax designed by other web mail sites to scare people off using Gmail?

read the link I posted and check out how many privacy organisations are calling on google to suspend the gmail service until the privacy issues are addressed

???? I am not understanding the invite thing. I just joined up for gmail without an invite. Is there more options for invitees only? or am I missing something?
