Digital set top boxes, PVR, and DVD recorders?

Anyone have any tips or advice for me as I go into the market for something that will:

record Digital TV (SD) to a harddrive (maybe two tuners?)
and record some of those shows onto DVD
and simply copy handycam footage to DVD.


Seems It is cheaper to have two boxes:
set top box with hard drive
and
DVD recorder with no hard drive

Than it is to buy:
set top box
and
DVD recorder WITH hard drive.

Not interested in HD - read it's not really worth it right now.

oh yeah, this is for the lounge room.
I know I can do this with my PC, but I don't have the time or inclination anymore..
