View Full Version : Mt Mee trip Fouros 29-07-2005, 06:53 PM I would like to organise a trip to mount mee thats stocker friendly in August any takers? H.G. 29-07-2005, 06:57 PM We did a trip out there a while back on all the fire trails.. I dont know if you need permits or not though.. Im thinking you do. I will ask Kyro for ya. goodol55 29-07-2005, 07:01 PM hmm..I'm interested in the bitumen part lads lol.....I see there's a bloke on line who wants to get the Ava (hopelessly stuck) in there though...not mentioning any names though. permits are required I believe Fouros 29-07-2005, 07:35 PM thanks guys next question where do you get permits from goodol55 29-07-2005, 07:55 PM thanks guys next question where do you get permits from try Qld Parks and Wildlife on ph 07 5446 0925 or fax on 07 5446 0966. Get them to post you the appropriate forms to travel on a state forest. they usually post them back in a day or two. You can nominate 3 parks on the form. It's free too and lasts as long as your rego ie. you renew at same time as rego in future years. I got Jimna, Amamoor and Kenilworth about two weeks ago. Fouros 29-07-2005, 08:06 PM so 55 you reckon i could take my stock KJ through there goodol55 29-07-2005, 08:21 PM so 55 you reckon i could take my stock KJ through there well it'll get further than my current ride :hammer:. Honestly htogh, I haven't been in there myself, sorry, cant help - you'll have to trust Eric on that one (scary, I know). Seriously though, Eric will have knowledge you're after. wrench 29-07-2005, 10:47 PM Hi Gerard. Your stocko KJ will handle most tracks at Mt Mee. Those that your not comfortable on can be detoured around without too much hassle. I'd be keen to meet up with you for a drive in the end of August. Also heading up to Imbil to have a look 14 - 15 th August. Honestly Kel, I reckon it's be fun snatching the Avo up & down the likes of Hanger & A Breaks. If you have any probs I can fax the application forms to you (different to the sunshine coast ones). David kyro 29-07-2005, 10:49 PM so 55 you reckon i could take my stock KJ through there Hey mate! yeah you need a permit to go in there and yeah the KJ should get through 90% of Mt Mee there is only a few parts that hardish :) Fouros 30-07-2005, 08:19 AM Thanks David and Roger & Kel Looks like I will go up to Mt Mee at the end of August for a run. do you need a permit for each vehicle or does one permit cover a few? kyro 30-07-2005, 01:24 PM Need one for each 4wd or a group permit which you need to be part of the QAFWDC to get wrench 30-07-2005, 08:02 PM One permit for each car & driver. They last for 12 months or until your rego/license expires. Gordo 30-07-2005, 10:41 PM I'm so immature...I cacked myself when we passed the sign to Mt Mee whilst en route to LCMP. Kept thinking of the twins in Goldmember as possible Japanese tourists at Mt Mee lookout : http://itsb.ucsf.edu/~vcr/APHeadMiYoo.gif Fook Yoo and Fook Mi :) CHEQUER-PLATE CHICK 31-07-2005, 12:21 AM Do you have a particular date in mind yet? H.G. 31-07-2005, 09:07 AM hehe gordo.. good to know Im not the only one that gets a giggle from such a title. I personally call it MEE mountain now.. just to help other immature people like myself out haha Karl 01-08-2005, 07:44 AM I would be interested, depending on the date. How tough are the tracks? I wouldn't mind bringing my kids along (6 1/2, and 3 1/2), but not if it is too rough, I couldn't hack it if they started whingeing..... H.G. 01-08-2005, 07:46 AM mate the tracks we went on are pretty cruisey.. just fire trails with a few humps along the way. lots of dust though when I was there.. which was ages ago. RED097 01-08-2005, 08:12 AM If you call 32277800 and ask for the web address you can download and print off the application froms. Allow up to 10 days for for a responce. Fouros 01-08-2005, 09:11 AM I would be interested, depending on the date. How tough are the tracks? I wouldn't mind bringing my kids along (6 1/2, and 3 1/2), but not if it is too rough, I couldn't hack it if they started whingeing..... Mate i have a 5 Y/O and a 4 Y/O so It will have to be Little people friendly The more the merrier i say Wrench what date you you think for MT Mee? Karl 01-08-2005, 10:27 AM First weekend in September is better for me, August is already booked up wrench 02-08-2005, 10:49 PM I would be interested, depending on the date. How tough are the tracks? I wouldn't mind bringing my kids along (6 1/2, and 3 1/2), but not if it is too rough, I couldn't hack it if they started whingeing..... My 9 & 12 yr old girls have been wheeling with us for the last 7 years with only a few complaints. Most of its fairly light with a few steep/rough bits thrown in if you want. Secret with the kids is to let them run up & down the hills before you drive the car through. Burns off heaps of energy. I was thinking towards Sunday 28th August. Saturdays are still tied up with kids sport. 1st wkd in Sept is fathers day & 2nd wkd is start of school holidays. Might be able to convince Goodol 55 to meet us at the gantry for lunch (Easy road for the avalanch). Fouros 03-08-2005, 04:58 AM Sunday 28th it is Mate Karl 03-08-2005, 06:33 AM Well, thats me out unfortunately, but I will keep the eyes peeled for the next one. Have fun fellas! Fouros 03-08-2005, 12:53 PM no worries Karl wrench 11-08-2005, 09:59 PM Hey is anyone still keen for this drive. Fouros 12-08-2005, 07:13 AM i am David can you fax me the permit application Fouros 12-08-2005, 02:58 PM 28th August is the date wrench 12-08-2005, 09:17 PM Permit application forms faxed to you Gerard. Anyone else need copies? Jeeps 12-08-2005, 11:11 PM Yes i might be coming along. Just fax me an extra copy or two to Gerard and i'll get them off him, if that's ok with you Mr Fouros 8-) Fouros 12-08-2005, 11:13 PM thats ok mr Jeeps Fouros 15-08-2005, 10:09 AM my application has been sent anybody else need the permit to traverse faxed to them? pm me if you do Fouros 19-08-2005, 03:06 PM Wrench i have just recieved my permit, what time do you want to meet up on Sunday the 28th and where? wendaloo 19-08-2005, 07:07 PM I can't go. Mazda won't make it. Sorry guys and gals. wrench 19-08-2005, 09:55 PM I reckon 8 or 9 o'clock in Dayboro But as you have up to 2 hrs drive first I'll let you call the shots. Usual meeting spots are the bakery or in front of the pub. Any other Jeepers coming along or do I invite a few Jap driving friends. No worries Wendy, maybe we can lift the Mazda &fit some AT's for next time. Fouros 25-08-2005, 08:58 PM say about 9.30 that gives me enough time to get the kids up and out the door wrench 25-08-2005, 09:19 PM Sounds good. Meet in front of the bakery in Williams St. Pack a picnic type lunch? Might try to finish the day over near Woodford if you want to head home straight down the highway. Do you still have my mobile no ? Fouros 25-08-2005, 09:24 PM yeah mate still got it will meet up at the bakery Fouros 28-08-2005, 05:55 PM well a fun and dusty day was had by all, Thanks for showing us around wrench, the jeeps showed up a Hilux on the big hill on the A break Track :) yes the stock KJ got up in one go, The hilux took 3 ;) will have to plan a run down to Crystalvale in sept - oct H.G. 28-08-2005, 05:58 PM this thread is useless without pics :P Fouros 28-08-2005, 06:07 PM no picks but the quote of the day went to our eldest as we started to go up the a break hill "Daddy are you going to Kill us" wrench 28-08-2005, 07:04 PM Hey Fouros I'm glad you enjoyed it. Was a bit worried you might get giddy as we drove around in circles looking for the good tracks. "A" break & Jacky break are usually good value & seeing the luxo & pathy struggle made it even better. Sorry I took the wrong turn returning from the escarpment. The track I meant to take is usually good with an optical illusion at a nice little rocky creek crossing. It was good to meet you, Sula (spelling?) & the girls. H.G. The camera sat on the kitchen bench all day but at least the batteries were fully charged. You'll just have to draw a mental picture or the SOCCER MUM outclassing a hilux. Cheers David H.G. 28-08-2005, 07:25 PM hahahahaha fouros.. thats funny as.. wrench.. I can imagine that. and its a good thought.
