I hear there is an XJ in Sydney with RE Long Arms being fitted. One that will not just gather dust in a workshop.

OK OK, so I will finally post something here!! Check the pics at THIS LINK (http://www.aussiejeepimages.com/gallery2/v/Jaffas/0509winchbrk/) to see my XJ with the RE LA kit on 33's.

Very happy with it, rides well on road, had fun when I went off road, but its like learning to drive a whole new car!!

A taste:

Dan96XJ
Yep, that is the kit Dan, to run 35's you will DEFINITELY need SYE, prob some serious wheel arch trimming (I am rubbing on full travell on 33's) and will NEED to look at axle/diff strength as the Dana 35 in the rear will probably struggle on 35's. Plus you gotta regear diffs etc... there are a couple of XJ's on 35's now, but it is a big jump to get them there.

brace the steering box, trim the front wings off that ARB bar, SYE, 4.88, get rid of the OME shocks, they will actually limit travel, raise the rear shock mounts on the axle tubes, extend brake lines, float the rear diff, revalve the auto box.............ok ok i'll stop!

Noice to see some panel damage ;)

Looks good though!

nice work mate!
reckon it should be a 33x10.5 on the roof though, 12.5 looks pretty funny and would add some serious drag!! haha

Where's the panel damage pic?
above the drivers rear quarter ;)

jaffas, if ya dont mind me asking, to run the 33s, what other stuff did you need to get done (obviously purchase 33s and rims) but anything else, or is the kit that complete?

cheers

Ah that'z been on there since previous owner. We did manage to rip both front flares off and do some dent work to the arb bar as well when the pics were taken. I just thought i missed the pics of those.

Basically what he said, except I have 4.56 ratios and lockers, SYE and I braced the rear diff. Extended brake lines are inlcuded in kit, and the shock mounts were moved during install.
If you planning on getting to that stage, either you need to save and do it all in one go (probably cheeper on labour) or do it in stages like I did. I went SYE, then diffs, then suspension. Has taken me 15 mths.

Wheel will be coming off... carpark issues!!

I know that I am jumping on a very old post, however Jaffas I am glad to hear that the XJ Blackie still lives, with some awesome improvements.

Your XJ rocks, when you coming back to Melbourne to play in the Mud. I am sure Dan and I can show you some good tracks.
