Anyone got any laying around for a project they were going to do but never did?
Anyone know of someone wrecking old F trucks ?
I'm after just complete disc to disc diffs, with the factory axles and centre intact.

Yeah I just spoke to him about 5 minutes ago.. Apparently the Australian F250's came with a Dana60 rear and a Dana44 front. He does bring in D60 front's from the US, but doesn't have any at the moment and doesn't have any on the way.
I'm not in a hugh rush for a set, but I'm putting the feelers out. I'd rather wait and pick up a set at the right price than rush in and pay too much.
Worst case scenario I guess I could buy a set in the US and send them over on a ship to save on freight cost

the old Dodge/International utes had dana 60s in them too, I picked one up for 60 bucks a few years back to put into my f250 when it ate those stupid c clip axle shafts, at the time a ford wrecker quoted nearly 2000.00 for an f250 dana 60

Maddog, theres a D60 housing on Ebay at the moment. Would need to change ratios and it doesn't include brakes but could be a cheap starter for your project?

Saw that one today. It's a rear. Rear's are pretty easy to get, as you can also get them out of old F trucks, it's the front that is difficult to get :(

I can get a set of D60's (front and rear, complete) from an F truck wrecker in QLD for $3250. That's 1/2 the price of the Volvo ones, and not nearly as complicated :P
I'd like to stay away from portals for the buggy, although I appreciate the suggestion :)

If you can truly buy a set of high pinion dana60's front and rear for $3250 then I think you should do it right away.
I think you will find they are not 35 spline though.
31 spline units will not stand up to a lot of abuse in a competition buggy.
Even 35 spline stockers are marginal, but get a lot stronger with some CTM's and allows :D
In the USA the cost for a junkyard high pinion dana 60 is between US$1000-1500.
The rears are usually a lot cheaper and can be found for US$100-400.
I would look for a set locally or just buy some Rockcrusher centres and get some made up.
Alternatively you could keep an eye on pirate4x4 and buy a set that comes up there.
Maybe buy the rear one in Aus as that is easy and relatively cheap.
Then import a front one as that is where most of the cost it.
Or look for a 14 bolt rear and shave it for clearance.
cheers
