I already have the 2" OME lift from ARB, but had a couple of 2" rear spacers lying around as well. Put them in on Saturday and took it out on Sunday. Rear wheels don't catch the guard anymore at full stretch! Just working through my options on getting another 1" or so up front so it doesn't look so lobsided. BahBah 07-03-2005, 12:24 PM Finally got a pic of mine. Went into Bendethera via the Merricumbene fire trail on the weekend. Stunning scenery when you could see it through the fog. This pic was taken at a National Park about 330km South of Perth. That's my son and I in the pic. KamJeep 26-05-2006, 09:42 PM Here we are at Zig Zag Railway, Excellent place. really enjoyed it Had a trip there with MRGC KamJeep KamJeep 02-06-2006, 07:51 PM Here is some more photos from our trip to Appin last weekend. Loved the tracks there and really worked on the LSD trick. Didn't know I had twin lockers ;) Wilmo 05-06-2006, 11:18 AM Here's some recent pics from my trip to Coral Bay and Ningaloo Stn in the North West of WA - about 1200km's North of Perth. I spent a week in the area, a couple of nights in Coral Bay at the Caravan Park, then 5 nights at Ningaloo Station camping in the dunes right next to the beach. It was overcast and rained intermittently the whole week unfortunately, so not the best time to be there! But still, got out the fishing rod and caught a couple of GT's from the beach on lures, and generally relaxed and went exploring in the KJ. Got as far north as Yardie Creek, but it was impassable (especially without a snorkel!) The KJ performed flawlessly and returned fuel economy for the trip of 8.5L per 100km fully loaded (it was heavy with Fridge, spare battery in the rear, water, food, camping gear etc) cruising at 105-110km/h. It handled the offroad sections with aplomb, climbed dunes and did a fair bit of beach work. The BFG AT's I am especially impressed with, tough, stable and great grip on the road, sand and mud. Very comfortable on the road - drove 1200km's home in one stretch yesterday. That diesel is a magic little engine! Plenty of power for overtaking too and smooth at highway revs. I wouldn't bother to take a second spare tyre next time - its heavy - if you use the right pressures off road there shouldn't be a problem, plus the BFG's are tough! My dad did puncture a tyre off road on his Patrol (Cooper LT ATR's) when he picked up a nail. We patched it and re-inflated it then used it as the spare for the rest of the trip after swapping it over. Only real hassle with the KJ is a bit limited for space to pack everything - the roof basket was definitely one of the best investments I've made for it. I'd take a boat up there next time on a trailer though, so some gear could go in that. Being a diesel it did use a bit of oil for the 2500km's we did - about half a litre. I took the essential spares of air filter, oil filter, fuel filter and oil with me so no drama topping it up. It was a hot day (37 degrees C), and the temp guage went north of 3/4 on my CRD and shut off the aircon after some sand driving in 4wd high 1st gear with a dune climb off the beach at the end. Cooled down quickly without load on it at the top of the hill and no ill effects to report. When we get our SEQLD KJ only run happening, we'll be sure to do that ;) !! Great pics again lads. The beaches of WA are heaps nicer than what we have over here I reckon. I love those steep sandy hills, wish we had something decent like that to climb over here. CDKJ, yeah I like the look of the TJM bar better, but i'm biased ;) but seriously, I like how it keeps the factory indicators and part of the flare, as it keeps the original shape and profile of the KJ's 'face' . palla 10-01-2007, 12:53 PM An old pic, a run up to Mundaring..... its a good fun track. http://www.aussiejeepimages.com/gallery2/d/85698-1/Paul+stuck+Oct+06a.jpg aus-kj 14-01-2007, 10:47 PM A few Pics from the Eureka 4wd course I attended on Saturday. Since the Jamboree I experienced some lifting paint so I've now got a replacement bar. Got ARB to replace in grey powder coat rather than the colour coded silver. I think it looks better now. In this trip I was able to make use of my new front air-locker and since then I got the rear installed last week :-) .... although the 4WD centre broke a couple of Jeep only, model specific bolts that Jeep Aust didn't have in stock and now I have to wait 10 days while they are sent from Germany :-(. So its bitumen for a while. Hopefully back in full swing for MJOC's compulsory basic training in a couple of weeks! Palla's been pwned !!! lol!! stephenmeddings 16-01-2007, 04:00 PM Wow, 2 x ARB lockers......*drool* .Your setup is rather serious Stephen, nice one !! Thanks. I thought that once I baught a 4WD that was it. But each time I went out on trips, I found it didn't have enough clearance, then not enough grip, then I needed recovery...... so this is where I'm at now after working my way through the ARB catalogue. Just having the front locker makes a huge difference to where I can go. There have been heaps of times when even with a full head of steam I haven't been able to go over/around something, now flick a switch and just crawl along. Less stress for me and the KJ. CRDSTU 16-03-2007, 09:24 AM Good pics crdstu whats your complete setup, getting some good flexing for a KJ. Thanks mate, not bad hey. The only real difference is the longer rear shocks I put in. They are still OME, but not the part no# listed for the KJ, something else ;) ! Removing the front sway bar makes a world of difference as you can see. I'd love to do a long arm rear conversion, maybe one day ! Cmohr, we should do a quick drive out to Springfield one w'end, only 35mins from my place at The Gap. Its got some really cool places that will test you. cmohr 16-03-2007, 09:33 AM I'd love to do a long arm rear conversion, maybe one day ! What is your opinion on the disconnects versus removing the sway bar yourself? See you at Coffs. CRDSTU 16-03-2007, 07:34 PM Fantastic flex shots Stu. KJ looks amazing. What is your opinion on the disconnects versus removing the sway bar yourself? See you at Coffs. Honestly ? Something else to go wrong, not to mention rattle / wear out. Every time I take that swaybar off then put it back on after wheeling, I know the KJs' going to drive exactly the same as it did before. I dont mind taking that extra 1 miniute in pulling it off then another miniute putting it back on. I've done it that many times now that i'm sure I could get it done quicker than someone would fiddling around with the JKS disco's ;) for sure, see you at Coooooooooooooooooooooooooooffs. You bringing the coffee machine or am I going to have to bring my plunger  Brian Walker 16-03-2007, 08:34 PM Removing the front sway bar makes a world of difference as you can see. Removing the stabilizer is great because you don't have to worry about the ABS sensors being ripped off if your swaybar tie-offs break! Downside .. getting the thing in the back requires excessive brain power not brawn to prevent it scratching all our lovely plactic! 3 1/2" lift, Coopers STs, No swaybar, about 18psi and a light foot on the throttle only ground clearance will stop you! THEN YOU PUT IN THE BOOT! CHEQUER-PLATE CHICK 16-03-2007, 08:52 PM OK. I will bring the coffee machine if you show me how to disconnect the swaybar. What's it like when you are on the road after a trip or do you replace the swaybar straight away? CRDSTU 17-03-2007, 07:40 AM OK. I will bring the coffee machine if you show me how to disconnect the swaybar. What's it like when you are on the road after a trip or do you replace the swaybar straight away? heh, its actually not that different at all, just ultra smooth over kurbs & bumps ect. I'd driven around plenty with it removed, Ormeau & back, Landcruiser ect, nothing that bad. I'f you've ever driven a pre 2001 Range Rover you'd know what its like. :hammer: No problems with showing you how to remove it at Coffs :P! flasho13 17-03-2007, 09:01 AM "I'f you've ever driven a pre 2001 Range Rover you'd know what its like.." ...so its kind of like driving a boat but a bit less responsive?! Pictures up soon of what I was up to on the Gold Coast. palla 03-04-2007, 02:11 PM Here are a few pics of the JK Sunday drive with Fouros & Family and Team CPC. The JK I hired was a 3.8L petrol Unlimited (4 Door) I found it great to drive but a little spongey on the response of the throttle at speed, so if you are going up a slight hill it takes a while for it to kick down while you are putting the foot down. Also the on/off switch to turn off the overdrive is not located on the auto shifter as in the KJ, its on the centre console in front of the auto shifter above the park position. I thought it was a poor choice of location because if you want to drop it out of O/D because of the slow kickdown response you have to reach forward to just below the A/C controls, bit of a pain. On the autoshifter it feels like there is a spot there next to your thumb for the button, but its blank. Shifting it in and out of 4WD you get a 4X4 light on the dash unlike the KJ where you get 4Hi 4Lo partime & fulltime. The JK only has partime.Hi & Lo only one light. It came standard with 31's 245/75/16 but they were HT's I would have thought AT's would have been the go, full bash plates all the way along with not too many hangup points underneath, but what a huge front bumper!!! The rear one needs modding to fit a tow hitch. Rocklizard?? Heaps of room in the back seats & in the rear, larger than the KJ. Has dual airbags but no side curtain, suppose you cant really with a softop. The rear seat goes all the way to the doors, the KJ has a bit of it taken up by the rear wheel arch. Road noise is quite good, with the softop on windows up it sounded like driving a 'normal' car with a window down about 10mm, I kept trying the windows to make sure they were up. The guy at the rental place recons Jeep have a noise cancelling device in the new JK to make it less noisey. The power windows switches are up below the radio & has two little round lights in them when the parkers are on which are a bit hard to see at night. The KJ has longer slotted lights which are much easier to see at night. The radio is a cracker, love to have one of them, internal 6 stacker & great display, has connection for wireless mobile phone. U-connect. It has a built in EVIC in the dash where the speedo tacho sits, I reset the L/Km when I picked it up, 3 days of city driving & 3 hours of crawling returned average 25L/100Km. mmm not so good. One thing I did notice once again compared to my CRD, is that there is very little "auto creep" (In drive on the shift, foot off brake car just sits there) Just drove my KJ & the car moves off freely in gear & holds on hills. So it was a little disconcerning in a carpark environment shifting between R & D as you had to put your foot on the gas to make it move rather than just taking your foot off the brake, kept looking at the instrument cluster to see if it was in gear or not. Was a little tricky getting up the rocky shaley hills as it didnt hold on hills had to work the brake & accellerator at the same time to prevent rollback. Was great criusing down the Gold Coast with the soft top down & the tunes turned up, really topped off a great holiday. Thanks again to Fros & Team CPC for making sure the rental got through without a scratch. have a great trip at Camp Coffs & take losts of pics for me. That stuff is sawdust. It was an old sawmill site and the sawdust is still there. There is a natural soak at the access point which provides plenty of fun. Was only there a few weeks ago and could drive through and up the hill, but there had been rain since and you can see the result. On the Saturday we went for a long drive and about 30min into it, smoke was spotted from behind. I stopped and found that the wet sawdust had dried out on my exhaust. Extinguishers at the ready I scrapped off the smoking embers from the rear and also found some between exhaust and skid plate underneath. That got the blood pumping!! Bloody cold. Wasn't planning on doing any 4WDing but found an endless amount of fairly easy tracks through the pine plantations and forests around there. After heavy rain it'd be a different story but last week it was perfect. Also found out it's almost impossible to fit snow chains to a KJ. The front is too tight between the tyre and the suspension. Unfortunately there's not too much real 4WD territory in Echuca itself but i found a few tracks with tiny hills and also some mud to play in. I have been copping crap from some of my mates in the fire brigade, they call it a girls 4WD but I am just waiting for the day that I head out on a trip with them (after a lift and new tyres) then show them what a girls 4WD it really is, they can keep their defenders and patrols, I like my KJ. I thought I'd been in some interesting situations before but I've never had my spare rub the ground!! Keep it up. KJ Ash 18-03-2008, 02:13 PM Tried but couldn't get up. It was a really sandy slope, had i got my front tyres just over the top edge i might of had a chance but i was in the worst possible spot for traction. The JK got up after a couple of goes. Great Pics Ash, Did you make it up the slope ? Any more picks of you going up , Better yet video ? ed. 18-03-2008, 02:45 PM Nice pics. I'd be washing and re-oiling that K&N quick smart :) KJ Ash 18-03-2008, 03:45 PM The K&N was out of the wrangler! and all washed and oiled. My engine bay fair really well compared to the JK. mkh 25-03-2008, 09:57 AM Nothing too exciting; just a few poser shots. Just spent a relaxing Easter up at Mansfield and did a bit of exploring. Went up to see the rebuilt Craig's Hut and then took the track over Mt Stirling. Craig's Hut just about needs a bigger carpark. Couldn't believe how many people were up there. The track over Mt Stirling was rough as! Found it really tough going and even noticed guys with lifted cruisers with muddies struggling over some sections. Was a lot easier when I did it a couple of years back (when my KJ was still stock). My transmission bash plate looks like someone's attacked it with an axe! We met a really cool older guy at Mansfield Holiday Park (can highly recommend this place as a base; very clean and spacious!) with a WG CRD. Loves his Jeep, hates the service! Man talk about having some issues! Heard all about it over a bottle of red one night. We went home via Woods Point yesterday. Very cool drive and got the trademark tourist photo outside the Shell servo there. Was a good long weekend... mikey 25-03-2008, 05:19 PM Nice stuff mate, gave the skids a bit of a work out !!!
