Just go to your friendly local Jeep dealer and ask for one, they should be able to bring one in. I know of at least one sitting on the showroom floor here in Canberra.

You after new or 2nd hand ?
A 2nd hand Manual 2.5 CRD Sport would be a good (rare) find. They're pretty cheap now. Great 4x4, has the Wrangler Transfer Case NV231, the Auto 2.8 CRDs all have the NV242 - I like them better as you get full time on road 4x4 mode, cant do that with the NV231.

Yep, I did pay a visit to my local jeep shop, and they did have a shiny new one sitting there for sale.

Would very much prefer to purchase a used one though... There seems to be quite a substantial diffenerence in the $ between cherokees that are only months old and the brand new price.
What is the story on the 2 different transfer cases? how do they make it part time only 4wd for the manual?
Really don't like the idea of driving an auto, but after making quite a few calls to dealers, checking the paper etc, 2nd hand manuals don't seem to exsist.

Ah I gather you are talking about the command trac / selec trac thing.
The Autos have a more featured 4wd system with a setting that allowes some slip front to rear, right? And slightly loads up the drive to the rear?
Wonder if it would be possible to remove the auto, and put some of manual box & clutch in at a later date?
Have never actually had a chance to have a look under either a manual or an auto too see how it is put together....
