Is that including on road costs? How much was the on road costs in your state (just so that I can work out the price without on road costs for a comparison)?

yeh including onroad costs.
for the renegade: $37490 + $1590 dealer delivery + reg & stamp $2218 + metallic paint $300.
For the rubicon, not sure of the breakdown but was happy enough with the price.

Hi there!
Well I just put my name on a 4 door V6 auto H/T... due here May/June and for ME,on the road, will be around $38,000!
How so cheap you may ask? Got to love the old DVA gold card... No GST, No Stamp duty or transfer fees and basicly only pay for the 3rd party portion of the rego.

I'm in Perth Matt, SOR.
Keen to sell me one?
I asked at a local dealer for a Rubicon, but July delivery? Hmmm that's a bit long to wait.

I didn't know what a DVA card was, google is so good sometimes.
The Australian Government has extended eligibility for the Gold Card to include Australian Defence Force veterans 70 years of age and over with Qualifying Service - regardless of the conflict in which they served.
The extension means that these veterans will join the 282 000 Australian war veterans and war widows who currently hold a Gold Card, issued through the Australian Government Department of Veterans' Affairs.
To be eligible to receive a Gold Card, veterans must:
* be an Australian Defence Force veteran
* be aged 70 years or over; and
* have Qualifying Service.
Eligible veterans with Qualifying Service from conflicts such as, the Korean War, the Malayan Emergency, Indonesian Confrontation and the Vietnam War will be entitled to receive the Gold Card from 1 July 2002. These veterans will receive the Gold Card regardless of their income or assets, or whether they have a war-caused incapacity or injury.
The Gold Card enables the holder to access, within Australia, the full range of repatriation health care benefits, including choice of doctor, optical and dental care, chiropractic services and pharmaceuticals at the concessional rate.
Some veterans will be automatically issued with a Gold Card and some will need to apply.
Veterans 70 and over who already receive a Service Pension through the Department of Veterans' Affairs will be automatically issued with a Gold Card and will not need to apply.
Those veterans who do not receive a Service Pension, but who think they may be eligible for the Gold Card, are encouraged to apply approximately four weeks before they turn 70.

"whats a DVA card?"
Well I am definatly not 70yo or older!!!! But I did serve in the Aust Army for over 22 year during which time I had as serious accident whilst on duty which ultimatly resulted in me being medicaly disitcharged. Which, due to my injuries resulted in me being given a DVA TPI Gold Card. I may not be able to srve the nation anylonger but I certainly can enjoy Jeeping!!!!

Window tint, I asked for window tint and the sales person said you can't get it on a rubicon. They also told me you can't get auto, but finding out later on from other places that you can. Which is a shame because i ordered manual. These sales people need to do there job properly and research the car.

Perhaps the dealer meant you can't get window tint on the soft top windows that come standard on the rubi?? Dunno.

After seeing the Mopar bars for the JK I'm definately keen on getting one at some stage... but I think I'll wait a year or two for a modded second hand one for about half the price. 8-)

Don't reward them, then. Cancel your order, they misled you. Don't worry, in another month or so, there will be plenty of JKs to go around.

Hi all
Well today I went down to my freindly and informative (not) Gold Coast Jeep Dealer looking to upgrade my 2005 TJ to the latest model.
I must admit the sales guy seemed very unsure at alot of the questions I was asking him (it should be compoulsory for all Jeep sales people to subscribe to this forum).
Basically I want a 2 door automatic with one of those very cool looking freedom tops. I was qutoted around $38,500. Ofcourse wanting to upgrade, the key is what kind of trade value I would be given for my current. - 2005 Auto, 30,000kms. I was very surprised when he gave me the "ball park" figure of $20 - $25K.
The new model is damn nice inside and I am so very tempted to go ahead right away, but the accountant in me (yes we drive Jeeps too!) tells me to
hold off for a while to see if prices drop as time goes on...
Any thoughts would be much appreciated.
Why is buying a Jeep such an emtional experience!

I don't think prices will drop on JK. Sure, every other model we've had over the years has seen the RRPs drop steadily as the model ages, but JK is altogether different. Can you name any viable competitors that come within $10k of this car? Even the H3 Hummer, built in South Africa on very old, very basic Chevy Colorado mechanicals is nearly 50% more expensive than a JK ! If GM was serious about the H3, I would have expected to be here for absolutely no more than $39990.
Dealer margins are almost non-existant ( a very sore point with me after having our TJ margins slashed for two years ) too.
Order the JK of your dreams now, sell your TJ privately asap before too many get on the used car market.
Sonik

I agree with Salesguy. I'd be selling the TJ now (if I had one - sold mine over a year ago).
Once the JK's hit the road in numbers, I think the general punter will be more interested in getting the new model rather than an old TJ. In short it'll become tougher to offload a TJ once the profile of the JK increases.
