I am going to do a little reno/building job at my place.
Stage 1 is to pull down the old shed and carport. In its place goes a besser block building, 7.5mt x 15 mt, in the corner, hopefully on the boundary's.It will have a double garage for my work van and jeep, a space for a kitchen, laundry, bathroom. them a single garage space for my willys truck build, this will have french doors and when the truck drives out it can be converted to bedroom, lounge room for the "granny flat". My original little house is only 12 mt x 7 mt, so the shed will be bigger than the house, I'm not sure if that is good or bad!!
Stage 2 is to destroy the house bathroom, toilet and rebuild it, I can use the shed ones while this is done. Get approval for the current "third bedroom and laundry" which are not approved structures, either fix them or rebuild. Change the front door and make a little patio.
I am doing all this "myself" (haha) as an owner builder, so anyone who does work on the south side of Brisbane or can recommend good trade people, post or pm me, I have an electrician and carpenter organized but there are things I will need to do that I don't every know about yet.
Wooders started a good thread about what to put inside the shed, some of these ideas will be used, thanks guys. But any ideas abut cheap building material, timber, steel, blocks, doors, windows any thing I need, I need to save as money as I can, I want to have money left over for some lockers for the TJ and stuff i need for my truck.

Good idea, but with the drought up here the price of straw has really gone through the roof, and theres that Big Bad Wolf dude to worry about.

Have you thought about painters? Or is that something you would do yourself?

Darius, be careful. . . be very careful . . !

Have I mentioned that I love my lovely wife? Just thougght I'd say that upfront, because the next bit might sound like I dont . .

I started the same sort of project . .
- ordered a new steel shed (30' x 20')
- plan to knock down existing 1960's timber frame galv shed (well timber and
termites holding hands)
- intention to put a loo and a shower in it
- to enable some short term solutions during house renovations and long
term, who couldn't use a loo in the shed really?

Knocked the cladding off the old shed and made the single biggest fatal mistake I could have . . I made a sarcastic comment, "gee honey, once we get the cladding off, you'll probably decide this is a lovely spot to sit and watch the garden grow, bet you want to turn it into a pergola . .

Yup you guessed it, I was right. :wall:

So now i have a lovely pergola, with power and concrete floor, and 30' x 20' shed, waiting to be assembled, on a site that hasn't been decided apon . . :wall:

Moral of the story .. . SHUT YOUR MOUTH! :-(

Hehehe,nice story CJ,and a moral too

Gotta have a moral . . stories just dont end up nice without a moral to close it off . .

And just as a footnote, I have 20acres from which to choose a site for the unerected shed, so options I have, just not necessarily prefered options!
