Two fixes my KJ has needed (under warranty, thank heavens)

When replacing the clutch and flywheel they managed, somehow, to get air into the clutch hydraulics. To fix this they had to replace the master cylinder, slave cylinder and connecting pipe which are a factory sealed assembly. No bleed nipples provided.:wall:

The clamp which locks the height adjustment on the steering column was loose - not seriously so, but the lever dropped a couple of times when driving on dirt roads. Fix was to replace the complete steering column assembly!:wall: :wall:

I have no idea what all this cost, as it was all warranty work, but this concept of replacing large chunks of the vehicle for minor defects must be very expensive. Makes me wonder whether it's worth keeping a modern car once the warranty has expired.

Replacing the entire part assembly is common Jeep dealership practice.
Contol arms, driveshafts, clutch assemblies etc - from the dealership are complete assembly only - whereas often the aftermarket offers individual components.
The factory hydraulic clutch is replacable as individual components.
Oh yeah and the clutch can be "bleed", it doesn't use a nipple, but instead is designed to self bleed up & out the resovior.
But the FSM doesn't say that so I guess it's not possible ;)
