Well its been a looooong time since I've run a AJOR trip in Qld. Last time we did a run I think we ended up with approx 25+ vehicles.

Plan will be....

Date: 8th Dec
Idea: Sat Arvo / Night run
Time: Meet at 5pm @ Caboolture BP
Location: Glasshouse Mountains / Beewah
What to bring: Rated shackles. Snatch strap. Drinks. Food. Torch. Things that glow in the dark!

Always a good way to get various clubs together and to also meet people from the forum.

Please put expressions of interest here.

ooooooh recent bad memories from glasshouse (involving filling the grand up with mud) but i'd be keen!! So long as it's nothing too tough.
I have my final uni exams ending on the 15th so anytime after that would be fine by me.

I have just returned home from a day testing out my new beast on a few of the trails from the ''dirty weekends'' book around the glass house mountains. Had a great time and can't wait to do it again with some jeep pro's :). I was very suprised how rutted the tracks are they must have got a flogging in the last few times we have had some decent rain. But i had no drama's in my car crawing over them.

Jimmyb
21-10-2007, 08:25 PM
Should be easy enough 55SIC, worse stuff will be mud if its been raining and normally there are other tracks around mud holes. We will have plenty of capable vehicles, and drivers with a LOT of experience so should be a great and safe arvo/night.

bikemat

not being a stick in the mud but this will be alot harder then Mt Mee so do you have another jeep to bring so not to damage the WH

kimamigo
28-10-2007, 09:18 PM
its either the WH or the ZG an both are stock heights...if ya don't think it's suitable for stock vehicles, probly best if i give it a miss an go surfin maybe........

kyro

Thats a nice Jeep....might look at makin some front an rear plates similar to those ;) and mine definitely needs a lift kit
What?......SELL one of my vehicles?....Oh no ,....couldn't possibly do that......they stayin with me forever . ...the ZG is economical for the high miles i travel and still in good nick for her ks, (222), and just so comftable....the kids keep tryin to prise it off me....hehe....and the WH WILL be a weapon by the time i've finished it..aiming for around 320Kw..very limited with what they'll let me get away with while it's under warranty....it ain't even done 12 thou yet .... i have always been partial towards stock-looking vehicles that hide really good running gear if ya know what i mean...

If you want we can do an early run to the Glasshouse as well so you can see the lay of the area and tackle a couple of the runs in full daylight with another WH? No hijack here as I am waiting till closer to the 8th to commit.

We haven't been to Glasshouse before, and the other half is a little nervous at tackeling it at night (not me though:rolleyes: )

Here are some pics from our last trip up there. We weren't planning on doing these tracks. Mind you these AREN'T the tracks where at night time I lost my wedding ring, Jimmy burnout a battery winching because he was so stuck. Me drowning the TJ trying to go around him and pull him out then Nick having to put his Winch challenge TJ on the other side of a hill to get enough resistance to pull both of us out.

The main reason I have made this a night trip is simple, the heat. The amount of times I have been there, hit mud and had overheating issues with vehicles due to mud baking into the radiator is stoopid. Mind you some of the vehicles I used to go there with, ie above photos shows why we had this issue haha.

but yes still planning a easy medium, and nighttime is great time to wheel.

Our plan was to have the trip finished, i.e. back on the black top by about 12.30am. Not meant to be a hard trip, just a fun one to get everyone out meeting each other, and to make some of us slackers get back into it again.

After going missing on your own recce, good thinking though. You must have known that we needed a winch vehicle in front, and took the long way around to get there!

But, after a couple of us turned around and followed you, I don't know how you took that pruutty JK through that "track" I reckon it was about 2 foot wide in some places! Must have been a bit scary by yerself!

Ha ha, I don't reckon anyone would have taken offense! It was a great night and some of the highlights were you and the FSJ bulldozing your way through that cutting, Chookie in the near stock TJ having a crack at everything, the "lowered" XJ going way beyond what we thought it could do, and the recovery of the FSJ by SilverJK.

It was really good to see that even though stuff can go wrong (gonna happen isn't it?) getting it fixed (brake line, tyres off rims etc...) wasn't a drama.

And I liked you being grumpy, at least we got to hear the Cherro's v8 redline!!!:D

That was funny as, maybe it was the "refreshments" or the looong waiting around, But when that Pootrol showed up on the otherside of the ridge, and the Wolf Creek comments came up, I've never seen a dozen supposedly adults start giggling like school kids....

It was kind of eerie with JB stuck in the black hole, UHF chatter in the background and total darkness all around.... then comes a set of lights over the hill.... not a word from whoever was driving... just the sound of a rifle bolt... well not really but it was wierd.
