Chumbly

Define "a few"? Are there going to be a few jeeps there?

Would be good as my Club takes the course on behalf of Adult Ed! I will be doing the Practical and Theory Days in the JK. Not to brag, but it's a good course, a bit of fun too!

See you there! :)

That'ld be me - really looking forward to it i have the ARB bar and winch going on next week and before the course i have to decide between probably the Cooper ST's / Mickey Thompson MTZ's or FC-II's just trying to figure out which ones will offer the best compromise of wet bitumen grip and still not leave me turning back and getting left behind in the dirt.
I think its probably the ST's or FC-II's at the moment as the MTZ's look a lot more dirt orientated and like the wet bitumen grip will be low ( they look great though) . If anyones got any of them and wants to comment i would like to know.

Just read your post on my tyre thread TassieMav - thanks - do you think the MTZ's will still offer good wet bitumen performance, a lot on the tyre thread seem to say they are better than the standard rubber? Do any in your club have opinions on their performance

Have a mate who is currently touring around in WA who has the MTZ's. He hasn't got an issue with them in the wet. They are a (relatively) soft compound so grip on the black stuff, wet or dry, shouldn't be too much of an issue.

Like any MT though, they do increase the Road Noise and will probably get about 60,000ks (at the rate his are wearing) out of a set before they are buggered.

You can't beat them in the mud though, they are awesome.

FC2's aren't as good in the mud, you have to use pressures more. They are quieter on the road and don't tend to squirm as much under hard braking like the MTZ's do.

Everything's a compromise!

Just got told the FC2's are being run out at the moment to be superceeded by the Radial ATZ - so i think i will order a set of MTZ's today so -thats that choice made

It's a shame you missed this one!

With the rain that's been around, it may be very eventful on the Practical day! :)

Dixie is all kitted out and rearing to go! Hopefully will get a pic of Dix pulling out a few Tojo's and Nissans! Will post them on the net if I can get one or two.

What an awesome course and the JK just walked over every rock climb ( up and down) and never bogged once in the mud holes. The only thing that stopped it was one driver error. I went into a deep mud hole with banks about 3 to 4 foot high on either side and thought my steering was pointing straight ahead - it wasn't and the MTZ side biters did their job and walked the left front straight up the bank leaving me feeling like i was going to roll at any moment - Terrifying - see pics. but lesson learnt.

Apart from that the JK was awsome making bits others had difficulty with look so easy - its an awesomely capable vehicle.

I Can't thank the guys from the Treka club ( tassie Mav was one of them) running the course enough, they were fantastic and we learnt so much about what you can do that you never would have believed before.

The only thing that stops a JK it would seem is the driver.

I was wondering how long it would take you to put the pics up!

What about the one's on why not to buy a Grand? :)

Really glad you had a good time mate, and glad you learnt something too!

The JK looked awesome, that one pulling you out looks pretty impressive too! Ha ha ha! :)

Ahh - that would be this shot of one of the 2 times i had to pull the Cherokee to safety after it bogged :p :p Of course I expect Chumby will tell me he was not bogged - just kindly giving me a go at some recovery practice :) - Very nice of you to.

That was just the best fun and educational day i can remember, and after watching all the rest go at the obstacles i am so glad i bought a JK, it made a complete novice like me look effortless ( as long as i knew which way the steering was pointing :o , and even then it showed how forgiving a JK can be when you really get it wrong ).

If you live in Tas and you are new to 4WD or want to learn a bit more, do this course you will love it.

Chumby

Im with JBee... great course to be on!!!

Bloody oath - i still want to out with TJOC too - i only meant that like here they are great bunch - that way i would double my options. :-) :-)

I still love ya

Now what's all this nonsense about loosing the jeep thing and flogging off your toys ( Unless of course you are combining the funds from the sale for a JK :-) )

We need you and the CJ or we are not complete, so no more talk of not liking Jeeps.
