A mate of mine John, (He has a tilt tray bussines in south Bris if anyone knows him) side swiped his Cherokee into a concrete barrier at speed the other day, the car has been written of by Suncorp, It is a 1996 Classic with 170000km's.
They fist offerd him $3000(which by the time he pays his excess leaves him with $2500) then after he had a bit of a dummy spit at them they came back at $4000 which still seems low to me. Anyone had any experience with insurance companies not paying up.

Hey Mark,

That seems about right to me, value wise.

Sad but true, that's all they're worth these days.

Insurance companies not paying up?.... nah, never heard of it..............

all i can say is agreed value that way you're insurance will cover you and if it's another drivers fault then you're insurance company should be chasing that agreed value for you.

Yep agreed value sounds like the way to go, will be changing my policies after this episode with Suncorp. For John to find a good Cherokee with low K's to replace his car he's looking at 5-7k looking at the prices on carsales meaning he's out of poket several thousand. hey Wayne if ya see any good Cherokees come up let me know.

Beware the agreed value policy, i had one on my XJ for a few years, then one day i check the renewal and the 'agreed' value had halved. Thing is i never agreed.

yeah i've heard of this and i also heard that they change you're policy back to market value every year unless you renew it as agreed again.

After a big sh#t fight he ended up getting $5500, alot more than the 3000 that they first offered, goes to show don't let them walk over you.

They hit me up with the old value less 10% (for gst) routine last time round...
