View Full Version : General RC Chat thread
I thought it would be good to have a thread for general RC chat.. questions .. etc.

I found this on ebay.. looks neat (other than colour). Does anyone know if it would work on a SCX10. I'm sure the extra weight would help flex.

OK, it may need to go on my mod list:cool:
. He just made a winch challange truck with a working twin motor low mount winch! The only set back is that they are dear as poison to do custom.
I was reading some of the rules for comp RC's and it would seem that the winch's see to come into play quite a bit.... sounds like heaps of fun. Apparently if you don't have a winch on your rig, the sections that would or may require one will have a RC equipped with a winch that can pull up that section. I'd love to see that.
Stu's got a winch on his JK Brute
Hmm.. too cheap to be any good???

General RC chat thread eh? I am a recovering RC junky, just got myself down to single figures now (I think). Haven't quite made it to crawlers but have been everywhere else except in the air.
Re the silver can above, yeah a pretty safe bet although don't expect any performance, just good value and reliability (if kept clean).
It looks like the Jeep is slowly pulling me away from this habit...

I must admit I love this stuff, such a buzz to work with and then drive and admire your final result :)
I've watched a few hardcore builders' treads before but you'd have to be unemployed to do that......it almost requires to much time and no responsibilities to get away with it! I'm struggling finding the time to do what I do!!
Mind you, hopefully my new toy arrives today  :hump: I'll let the pics speak for themselves when it arrvies !

I am still trying to decide what I want to do with mine. I found after doing the JK conversion to the SCX10 that as realistic as it was, it didnt drive like I wanted. I wanted more flex. No I added longer shocks, bigger meats and started hacking the body up.
Then I wanted a LCOG so trimmed more, raised shock mounts and stretched wheelbase further. I was still getting issues with the body so I think went to a complete tube chassis from RC4wd. Now its no longer a Jeep.
So I am trying to work out where to go next. Should i just hack up the JK bonnet and slot that onto the tube frame or should I go back to a different body like a Cherokee and make it a big crawler (none realistic)

Go the big crawler IMO, I'd have thought that the AX10's would be more suited to a tube frame & chopped up bonnet look. But I'm not sure what yours looks like now.
What's a dig unit... some sort of locker?

i'm looking at building my own warn front bar and rock sliders. does anyone have the rock sliders you can buy pre welded / built for their scx10 chassis???
they look pretty slick, might build a 1/10 jeepzilla...
A few things, I wanted to fit my 2.2's but can't seem to see how to remover the existing wheels., I can't see a screw.. unless it's under the centre cap and I have to prize it off somehow. I'm quite sure they will rub like crazy but I still want to have a look and see.
I also want to change the rear setup to a 4 link.. however the rig didn't come with instrustions on how to do it. I've looked at a few pics and know what's required and where things are to go but I seem to think that the mounting point on the chasie would require some sort of sleeve for the control arm to hing on. Does anyone know of a link that will show a step by step and parts on how to do this.

You need to prise off that centercap mate, use some needlenose pliers.
2.2's should fit fine, rubbing is part of it :P!

They fit fine... on level ground & look bloody fantastic. Full stuff then try to turn is another story. I don't want to trim the dingo just yet.. still looking for a Jeep shell that I'll be happy to trim.I put the 1.9's back on for now.
I'm thinking of getting one of these as a 2nd rig so my son can wheel with me and or my Bro when come's over. Anyone want to comment on it, value seems OK from what I can tell.
It's 1/10 scale so I can get a Jeep body that will fit and look sale next to my Dingo.

Looks good, not sure about the cost to get that one running with all the bit's you have to buy.
This one is $329 RTR.. looks good. I was thinking of getting it as my 2nd rig but the other one I posted is a lot cheaper.
