I believe it's from a build up of dust and bugs etc and then with the moisture from the AC the dust and dirt and s#@t goes a bit moist and mouldy. There is no pollen filter on the XH. The WH Grand has one but not our model. I disassembled the front vent work to see what I could clean or find but you can't get into this area where the problem is so I used an antibacterial spray. You may need to do this treatment once a year. It's a Commander thing! als008 31-08-2010, 11:53 AM I too get a really bad smell from my Commander XH. It is a real rancid smell, seems to be coming from the a/c vents but the odour is of a burning oil/exhaust type of smell. als008 01-09-2010, 09:52 AM That sounds like your diesel particulate filter having a burn off I thought it burnt off at 80km/h +. I seem to get this smell often at lwr speeds, say around 60 and when i come to a stop at the lights!! North Coast Wrangler 01-09-2010, 12:14 PM we have a special can of stuff that we spray over the evaporator, I'm sure if you spoke to an AC specialist shop they would have something similar.
