I caught a view of the dealer version of my service paperwork and they were charging FCA Australia for $638 worth of warranty work. The only extras done were 7 flashes that took them 4 hours.
My guess is they do it for the extra income. Sent via Tapatalk from a small keyboard on my phone with fat thumbs and no glasses... |
Yes Seacomms some flashes can be surprisingly slow. In cases of significant or total reflashes they are done overnight and you need a power supply hooked up to ensure the battery doesn't die.
Many of the more powerful workshop scan tools can actually perform these reflashes via a WWW connection.... using SAE J2534 or by operating in "Passthrough Mode" - you have to pay a fee per flash but its technically doable. Its certainly done in the US due to changes in legislation but I've never heard of anyone doing it here... perhaps our laws haven't kept up with this sort of tech.. |
Getting Clock spring done on my 2007 built CRD Monday morning
They've done quite a few apparently so hope there are no issues. I was told they dont need to plug it in to the star scan for updates but will ask again |
Any suggestions for dealers in north Sydney to get the recall done? The dealer in Waitara is claiming no parts.

Jeep Australia are doing something absolutely ridiculous in the way of not supplying parts until the vehicle has been checked. Then the dealer orders the part and gets you back in to change, its complete ballache... I'm also not convinced its just the clock-spring they're replacing either. I definitely think it's something to do with the Takata airbag that's fitted to it. If you google Takata Recall Jeep, our vehicle's are on that list. I've worked for the last 2.5 years for a prestige brand and I've lost count of the amount of airbags I've changed |

I booked mine in the other day at the dealer after confirming they had the recall kits to do the job. It was a straight replacement of the clockspring and a new plastic shroud is fitted to help exclude dust.....no prior "inspection" was required......I heard they were doing the inspection first when the recall started, but now it seems they are just replacing the clocksprings and fitting the shrouds. |
