I heard on the radio that when gas was just a small industry and was not large enough to make export viable, we got charged local prices.

When CSG started to add to the supply the industry got critical mass to make exports viable, when exports became viable then gas became priced at world commodity prices as we now have to compete with the rest of the world to buy our own gas.

So the environment gets destroyed, farmers get their water supply poisoned and we get ripped off at the bowser, where exactly is the upside to this?

Some good news. The fuel at Newstead (Launceston) is yet to go up. I paid 1.76 for 95 and 95.9 for gas. Hopefully it will remain at that price for a few more days, like Friday........:).
