With a Dana 30?
Can I have you VIN to check? (PM if you like)

Setting the EPC to 2007 Wrangler, I see diff info listed as:
DJR Light Duty (petrol??)
DJS Heavy Duty (diesel??)
DMC 3.21
DMF 4.10
DS7 Conventional (open?)
DSE Tru-Lok

EDIT:
See this is why the parts guys hate doing this, there is a typo in the system, in 1 section DMF is listed as 4.10
in another section it's listed as 4.11

EDIT 2:
68004 094AA Front, Ring & Pinion (4.11) DMF 1/2"
68035 581AA Rear, Ring & Pinion (4.11) DMF 1/2"

Now, it should be noted there is 2 options related to these, there's DMF 7/16" version (ring gear bolts) and DMF 1/2" (ring gear bolts).
Same goes for the carrier kit as well.
This seems to be an issue on the 07 models only. There's no bolt size options listed for 08 or 09,
so I assume they dropped the light/heavy options and went with 1 uniform version across the range????

No good unfortunately. The 2007s have a dana 35 rear and the rubi has a different dana 44 to the sports so I can't get a rubi 4.11 rear and a CRD 2007 4.11 front either..

I would love to get the 4.56 but it's just a little too big for my liking...

Hi All,

I am interested in changing the diff ratio in my manual JK from the factory 3.21 to the 3.73 ratio offered with the automatic transmission. Unfortunately chrysler refuse to even look up the necessary parts without me providing a VIN number. Apparently they can't search without a vin. Obviously my vin will be of no use as my car is a manual so the returned parts will be incorrect.

The guy at the dealer told me to find a vin for an auto somewhere (I honestly can't believe how unhelpful he is - how hard is it to locate parts using a general search, honestly?). Anyway, I'm wondering if someone out there would be so kind as to provide me with the vin for your auto JK sport.

If you feel funny about providing a stranger with your vin I am happy to do whatever is necessary to prove I'm legit. If you're in Brisbane I can even meet/call you or give you the cash to collect the parts yourself. Otherwise I am going to have to find a parked one somewhere and read it off the rego label :)

Hope to hear from one of you!

Thanks,

Greg.

chrysler are the wrong people to talk to when you want to modify your jeep

Because the only aftermarket ratios available for the JK dana 30 appear to be 4.56 and higher...

Superior axle and gear make lower ratios for other dana 30s but not the jeep one...apparently.

If you had any idea how much trouble I have gone to to try and source some aftermarket 3.73 or 4.11 gears you would be shocked.

EDIT: It looks like I can get the parts from jeepoemparts.com! yes! yes! yes! Man, I have been looking for so long!

Does anyone know if the R&P for the rubicon's rear D44 will fit the Sports' rear D44? If so I can get the CRD 4.1 front and the rubi rear R&Ps from moparts.com. Sweet!

Swordfish,
What model you got?

I can only check up to 2009, as my copy of the EPC hasn't been updated,
since I have a 2006 TJ and couldn't be bothered getting the update to cover 2010 vehicles.

Also, I updated my first post regarding the 3.73 stuff:

2009 Front:
68019 333AB [DME] Gear Kit, Ring & Pinion [3.73]
68026 549AA [DME] Case Kit, Differential

2008 Front:
68019 333AA [DME] Gear Kit, Ring & Pinion [3.73]
68026 549AA [DME] Case Kit, Differential

2008 & 2009 Rear:
68038 761AA [DME] Gear Kit, Ring & Pinion [3.73]

I'm guessing 68019 333AA is superseded by 68019 333AB, BUT be sure to confirm when you order anything.

Some V6 07 models did get the D44 (DRZ) because I ran the build sheet for the 07 Unlimited we almost bought,
before getting our 06 TJ.

Oldboy,

Mine is a 2009 petrol, but I think I might be able to get the 4.11 ratio from jeepoemparts.com (see picture) IF:

1) The D30 in the 2007 is the same as the D30 in the 2009.
2) The rear D44 in the rubi is the same as the non rubi.

Are you able to confirm that this will work, ie are the D44s in the rubi and non rubi the same, and the d30 in the 2007 CRD the same as the D30 in the 2009 petrol?

Cheers,

Greg.

The 2007 it lists: Light Duty (DJR) & Heavy Duty (DJS)
I assume D30 & D44, it's not real clear, just LD or HD back then.

For 2009 it lists:
[DJR] Next Gen. D30 Solid Front Axle
[DJS] Next Gen. D44 Heavy Duty Front Axle

Unable to provide any more info than that.

The housing for the rear D44 does appear to be the same, (DRZ).

THIS IS ONLY a GUIDE.
I cannot guarantee 100%

EDIT: Should be clear as mud now :P
