That's a shame. Just weld the whole lot to the roof and paint it the roof colour. Haha

I'll make sure I take a photo of me on the roof to see if it holds up well. |
Just had a chat with XLR8 fabrication this morning about my requirements for the mounting block piece, referred me to the guy next door who is a machinist.
Ok, having some Nylon blocks made up to suit, will post on the outcome in a couple weeks. Sent from my SM-A910F using Tapatalk |
There is still some gap between the mounting block and the channel, but should provide a sturdy base.
I will fill the void surrounding the mounting block with adhesive foam padding, and chiesel away the goo from the channel where the mouldings were to give it a flatter surface. Most probably want to silkaflex the bottom of the mounting block to the seam?https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...f54d2ef471.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...ca52ea142a.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...6b06697eb6.jpghttps://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...5953fbd7d9.jpg Sent from my SM-A910F using Tapatalk |
Looks good Imaz. Wondering though, if you were to push the factory rubber back down and mark the hole through the roof from inside car. Then drill to the size of bolt you are using. That will give you a location and then you could use the block as a template to cut the factory rubber so the block just slides in to the rubber so it is essentially like a gasket. With some sika underneath and around that would give you a pretty good seal I reckon.

I have already found the part number and will order a set from Rockauto to keep as spare. Around $25 each new, Wreckers wanted $100 each! Bloody insane... |
