Since the car is running without any issues I am just going to hope on my next service I can get a proper person to have a look at it and give me a word on what needs to be done to fix it or maybe they might be able to cleanup the sensors and areas and we probably fix it. The only issue is watching that yellow CEL on dash (which I am getting used to lol) and the fact that on days with CEL engaged, I cannot remote start as it starts and cuts off engine in like 10 seconds. Not big inconvenience just first world problem lol.

If I was close by to one of you guys I would drive to your home with a case of beer and get you to do a quick inspection as I am not good with tools :)

So I called another 'Jeep' specialised garage here in Perth today and just had the shock of my life when I mentioned I have this code and what they think about it.

They told me my manifold needs replacing and the hoses around it at the same time (10.5 hour job) quoting me I am looking around $3000 for it done. They even told me the manifold on these needs done at 120K anyways and mine is at 80K at the moment. I was like trying to ask the guy can it not be a flap somewhere in the throttle body or a sensor and they were so adamant it is a manifold with this code. I was under the impression the manifold had its own codes if it was failing.

In the end they said they are happy to do a diagnostic of the car for $165 and give me a report on what needs to be replaced on paper. But they sounded like this was so common and they even have one coming in today to get done. Apparently, the dealerships around send the Jeeps for this job quite constantly this guy tells me.

I am not in a position to loose $3K at the moment for this. And the mechanic on the phone tells me it is only going to get worse and they car will not do any regens at the moment putting it into limp mode soon.

I have not checked the regen status on the car (don't know how to on JScan) but I can tell and feel it is doing it because after every few days I can see the fuel consumption go up and bit and then drops..I feel it is doing regens otherwise would have clogged up by now and thrown an error isnt it? :(

Regens are done very regularly....unlikely its not performing a regen without sending you a message on the evic stating....forced regen required...and throwing up codes...mines an older bus and has done near 180k...no new manifold or manifold clean performed...not saying thats ok...just caboshing the claim that it will 'soon fail' if not replaced....its hard finding a genuine good Mechanic or shop....I would suggest you try asking forum members based in Perth for their likes/dislikes.... $180 is purely the hourly 'workshop' charge to put it on a scanner...nothing more....perhaps start a thread requesting input for suggested Perth workshops....good luck

Thanks for your feedback mate yes it sounded like they were just fixated on doing a manifold on mine. Their questions should have been do you get any other error codes other than the P02E8 or does the regen throw errors on EVIC like you mentioned instead of saying the regens are not working now and it will go into limp mode. I agree the regens feel like working as every couple of days atleast I can see the fuel consumption going up and then after a few drives it starts to settle down again (not sure if this is related to regen) and not seen one EVIC error about it filled up yet. I have had this issue for about 1.5 months now. Yours is at 180K and these guys told me on these Grand Cherokees the manifold just dies at 120K anyways. Mine is at only 80K at the moment. I was like what!

Really nice steps on this link that goes step by step around the area of issue first. The last step on this if all other troubleshoot steps failed is to replace the PCM which is highly unlikely hopefully. No manifold replacement mentioned. Plus the manifold has its own error codes from what I have heard. I have seen the same steps on a different website talking about this error so it could be page from a service manual.

and folk wonder why I have always DiYed my stuff and I'm no expert by a long shot....
If you want to come by just run over to the east coast and head for Fraser Island, give me a text as I'm nearby............. seriously though for description of codes I use this site they relate to Jeep code not just the generic expalnation; https://www.dtcdecode.com/Jeep

Replace the manifold is the biggest con I have heard since the old wiper blade trick. 120K km so far and while its pretty mucky inside mine its working very well, when I get back from this tour I'm giving mine a hit with either
https://www.supercheapauto.com.au/p/...6g/515122.html
or
https://autobarn.com.au/ab/Autobarn-...0130/p/OA04889

As it will clean off crap form the MAP and that pesky flutter valve and hopefully get rid of some crud from the swirl flaps as well...........

Depending on specials at the time as to which I use but with mates who have been test beds for the products I'm happy to use either, though I have used Liqui Moly stuff for years and they have always lived up to the name ...

Squirt it in just after the air filter as per instructions then go for a good burn down the road to get rid of everything and allow the Soot Oven to burn off any crap before it has a chance to feel comfortable........ If I'm going to throw that sort of dollars on the stuff I know it works, not just because some ding on TV said so.

In the end you may not need to pull off hoses and stuff............. my Jeep mate in Wait Awhile is stuffing around in the desert and hasn't answered my text about who works on his Grand...

Seriously this garage must be coning people of their hard-earned money at a daily basis. Even after repeatedly questioning them, they went on saying nope this is got nothing to do with intake area just the manifold is bust. With such confidence on a car that is only run 80K.

So worth trying to do the clean myself with either Liquimoly or Penrite as suggested. Or since I have a service coming up soon get that person to do it at same time..I lost faith on both these Jeep specialising garages as I was hoping to use them for my next service if they sounded like they knew what they were doing. Looks like it is going to be an Automasters or Ultra Tune or some mob I can trust this time for the service and check. The last service was done by Ultra Tune and not really keen to go there again tbh.
