If your trans mount hasn't snapped in half like mine did  I would leave it. If you replace it and have lift you might get vibes from the tail shaft as you will raise the trans. If it ever gets a knocking noise take off the transfer case bash plate and the noise will go away.

The engine mount is the issue I believe. A bit vibratey and makes some nice clunk noises when the old lump of American cast iron is revved, and on idle. Also. Anyone know where to get power steering hoses? Would poly4x4 have it? Hamish Sent from my XT1572 using Tapatalk |

Anyone know where to get power steering hoses? Would poly4x4 have it? Hamish AFAIK RHD power steering pressure lines are no longer available. I have previously seem them at "Rock Auto" but have been informed by them they are out of stock indefinitely. Probably best to remove your old one and take it to somewhere like Enzed or Pirtek. If anyone knows of RHD ones available new, I would like to know too. |
Cheers Rusty and Anthony, didn't get a chance on Friday to give them a call. Will do tomorrow. I'll probably just get the hose made if I can't get a replacement.
Did the dizzy cap, rotor, wires, plugs, dropped oil and did the filter today. Oil was filthy, the plugs were stupidly worn, the dizzy cap and rotor were worn badly too. This would be the cause of a few performance issues. The air filter was changed also. I've gotta do the fuel filter still though. Sent from my XT1572 using Tapatalk |
good stuff Hamish looks like you are getting into XJ Ownership.............

The fuel filter, brakes and a few other bits and pieces will be tended to this week at some stage. A set of bootstruts will be coming in the mail as well. Still gotta go through the switch circuit in the interior at some stage, but want to have the car stop and go properly too ;) On the plus side the radio and windows work now!
