I meant 28psi on road not off in case that's what you meant. So i will prob change out the coopers but until i find the funds for that whats the go with using the spare?

By this i mean should i ditch the dead tire and purchase 1 more cooper, putting the 2x new tires (the spare was new that is now in place of dead tire) on the back so they wear evenly? or just run the spare (again its new) with other 3x tires?

That sounds like such a stupid question.... But the tires have 20k+ wear on them, spare is totally new!!

Hey Zen. I think you are suffering a multitude of issues here. As above you're problems seem to be a damp entry, what looks to be sand and dirt all over the rock, not to mention tonnes of other vehicles polishing the rocks every time anyone spins on them, possibly wrong gear choice if your in 1L maybe 2L with a little run up at around 2000rpm, definitely your harder compound tyres and also something no one has mentioned yet was that your pressures may have been too low.

On some tyres if you run too low when the tyre bags it can actually close the tread blocks together slightly. This may prevent the tyres from clearing themselves of mud and causing them, as you stated previously, to become like slicks. This may also explain why others that were running higher pressures didn't seem to have any issues that day.

So don't go out too quickly and spend shitloads on new tyres yet. ;)

Ok ill hold off on ditching the coopers, i cant really afford new tires anyways!! I'll also chalk them and check the wear as suggested :)

Any thoughts on running the spare (new tread) with existing tires? I don't know if there is any issue with wearing the tires unevenly being 1x has new tread etc...

Hey Zen, how was it on the way home? Was the traction control flickering on the dash. I found with mine being one tyre with 35,000 km and one being brand new the traction control was cutting in on the road so I had to turn it off. When I got home I swapped the new tyre to the front and problem solved.

No issue on the way home mate, actually drove good & fuel eco restored to 13 quicker than normal :)

Thinking I'll just leave new tread tyre on and try patch dead tyre to use as spare & the prob clean it.. Ha

I spoke to 4 shops about patching mine and none of them would repair a sidewall, they all said the cords were damaged so no repair.
