What speed you usually sit on the highway?

I don't speed, so I cruise on 100km/ph. I don't need to give a cop any reasons to pull me over lol!
May have a friend (Nissan) joining us but he's only about a 20% chance of coming.

Yeah same, 100-105 is best to keep the burn rate low.
Looks like clear nights for Friday and moon only new and setting just after 9, so should be good for some astro shots of the sky stays clear 👍

For anyone who doesn't know where the campground is, there's a half decent map half way down the link listed. Geelong peoples would be best heading up the Ngarkat Hwy then to Pinaroo I reckon, unless you take the more adventurous route and come up the Murrayville - Nhill track through Big Desert, I did that track and a heap of the others through Big Desert a few months ago.

Thanks for the info Grippy

Do you know what the track conditions are like over the various tracks?

Grippy 19-08-2017 07:03 PM

Well they are all sand in Big Desert, so rain doesn't matter, Big Billy Bore and White Springs was under water last time we went there and the tracks we're all fine.
The Border Tk is sand until past Red Bluff where there are some mud pits, I did this last Anzac Day weekend when it was still not and we hadn't had rain for months and the holes still had water in the bottom.

We're most likely coming up via the eastern side of Big Desert. Maybe following the B220.

Coming home one of the southern routes.

Looking forward to it.

Sick of working on the Jeep now, but it's mostly done and tested. Ready to roll

Sounds like a good run up there, so your not following any tracks on the way up?
We have a very boring run from Adelaide, straight up the freeway, then along the Mallee Hwy to Pinaroo for fuel.

Got all my camping gear out and sorted today and bought one of those cheap gas cooker things, bit easier than the BBQ I usually run with, woo hoo, looking forward to it, haven;t had a night under the canvas for a few months now.
Organised some wood too, dunno if I am game to have it on the roof rack all the way there, busted up an old BBQ stand and bundled it together, it's oiled not treated so should be OK to burn, and my neighbour has a heap of smallsih bits of sleepers from doing his retaining wall.
I reckon if we all take a little bit we should be good
