Just to clear this up, we are definitely designing for the 2012 and the updated 2014 models.
We fitted a prototype bar to a 2012 Overland last week and will be testing with our 2014 update when it arrives in the next few weeks. Once we've had a look at the updated model, we'll determine if one bar will be able to cater for both models or whether we'll need to have 2 separate bars. Cheers, Sam. |
Thanks for the update sam cant wait to see what your product looks like ive been wstchi.watching uneeks bar progress its looking dam good hope ur bar can compete astheticly i know it will perform excellent but looks are definatly important too

WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? Sam
Will the ARB bar fit the 2011? |
When will the uneek bar be in production and ready for sale?
|
Obviously we have our ARB / Uneek lovers and haters here.. From my point of view, both companies have exactly the same to offer right now. Nothing.
Both companies are still developing the end product, one has put an "expected" date and a price on the unavailable product. ARB have not shown or released details on their development.. Obviously as an industry leader they fear imitation. Uneek are attempting to fill a gap in the market, well done. But the product is still non-existent. I hope they do well, as competition in Australian manufacturing is rare and can only improve things for all of us. ARB already has the lions share of the market and staunchly loyal customer base. I've visited ARB in Kilsyth and in Newcastle and was not surprised that the catalogue WK2 was bare. I was told, there is (at the time) very little demand for bars. 12 months later it seems (at least by popular demand on AJOR) there is interest from owners. But for ARB and Uneek to start development, there must be a strong business case. I suspect that ARB's decision will be based more on demand from the US market than Aus. I hope that Uneek can also export to the US. For now, everyone should calm down and wait patiently for both bars to arrive on the sales floor. I am, and I will reserve my decision on which bar until then. |
Any photos of this bar yet

WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? Maybe looks like this?

I would guess it would look a lot like that, just modified enough to fit the WK2...
Cheers Numb Thumbs ;) |
Or this.......

I recon more like this, notice they all look the same

Amazing how they look remarkably similar....:? So why has it taken them so long to make one for the WK2 when all they have to do is tweak another bar?
Cheers Numb Thumbs ;) |
WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? When I spoke to them, they said the WK2 bar had a whole bunch of new features. Interesting to see how it comes out.

Number one and four look the best
|
But 2 & 3 offer the most protection...
Cheers Numb Thumbs ;) |
Interesting how the patrol just released with all those extra cut outs for sensors is made and available and its a total new vehicle no cary over and the jeep is on third version of WK2 and still no bar and i see a lot more WK2 driving around then the new patrols. The calarado is also relatvly new compared to the WK2.
I dont think there in much of a hurry to make the bar for the Jeep. But if they do i like one and four for looks and two and three for protection. |
WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? Seen in the flesh in Jamieson last night, a WK Grand Cherokee Trailhawk sporting the new ARB steel winch bar. Looked fantastic even for the per production model.
No idea on price, it's a freebie for the loan of the car for a week. The also threw in a winch as a thank you. Safari snorkel not long to follow as it was wind tested for noise from the bar and measured for the snorkel at the same time. Picture to follow tomorrow when I get home, (can't get the snap to upload from my phone). |
Amazing what a bit of competition will do...
Cheers Numb Thumbs ;) |

was about to give you a serve timbo until I scrolled down to your last paragraph. As soon as I started reading I was thinking you better have got a couple of pics. |
Looking at options available and chatting with Gavin at cruisinon, I have had a look at an ECB mounted on the my14, yep it works for me, ECB are modifying the bar to fit even better, so yep long range tank, mopar tow bar and waiting for the new wiring loom for the tow bar and then will fit the ECB, happy with the choice, will post some pics when she is done

Not winch compatible.

WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? Hi Timbo
Any luck with posting the pics? Cheers |
Yep I know, but in the last 30 odd years of driving around the bush, I haven't needed a winch so not a consideration for me, just need to keep the animals out of the radiator
|
WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? So it looks like still no photos of the alleged ARB bar, I guess we'll only see it when they start charging customers for them, oh well same old same old
|
Maybe the ARB secret service have got to him, probably tied up in the basement of an un-named ARB store being forced to look at photos of Nisota's  :hammer:

If you drive tough tracks chances are you'll need a winch. I you drive easy tracks no winch needed.
Depends on your intended use. |
Im sure you can all imagine what it will look like! Every other ARB bull bar ever made, the all look the same, like shit, get with the times ARB, its not the seventies any more

Both think their 4WD's are indestructable and drive as such. They keep saying my winch is coz I'll get stuck. I know it will get the most use pulling these two out of trouble:-) |
WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? Happy to start a book.
My bet's on this one. There's easily min 10months work in this new design. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/08/12/6emequ2e.jpg |

Sorry it's taken a day longer than expected, absolutely knackered after the weekend away with MJOC. Penguin
I took this when I first saw it at night, I hope to get the better quality day time pics tomorrow. Cheers Tim |
WK2 Bullbar - When ARB? I can just make out a Jeep in that photo...
|
And the winner is "scraps" .
Hard to tell but I think it sits higher then the Uneek bar and covers the grill more. Very much the ARB signature design, & is that really a bad thing :?: I think its good to have a choice, the only air bag compliant bar for the WH is ARB & they look out dated know. P/S timotrog how did you escape..? Were they laughing to much at there own Jeep jokes and you slipped out a side door :p All jokes aside thanks for the pic :D |
