The last of the interior wiring finally out. :) I have filled a whole 55 litre tub with just the interior wiring alone and have none of the under bonnet and floor stuff yet. And that does not include another tub I have been filling with the different ECU's, modules etc. http://willyshotrod.com/WHgrand14.jpg This is the whole heater, A/C unit as well. Only a bit is some firewall insulation left which will come out once I unbolt the brake pedal which has the booster and master cylinder on the other side. Might think about using it in the Willys as it is also the mount for the panhard bar, tow bar, two exhaust hangers and the charcoal canister. The spare wheel also sit inside it. http://willyshotrod.com/WHgrand35b.jpg Got the rear bumper off too as well as the chrome roof rails and petrol filler. Everything is ready for it to sit up high on stands so the drive train strip can begin. :) |
Hi Gojeep, great project you have there!! nice pics of the grand coming apart, good reference for us hemi owners too if we ever need to open the car up.
i had a look at my pdf workshop manual under the occupant restraint controller section, something like over 400 pages and what a headache, so many modules even the seat weight calibration module needs to be in on it. i dont know if this will help but maybe deploying an airbag and opening the wiring up might give you an idea to plug false modules back to trick the computer into thinking it has an airbag reinstalled for every squib connection.the manual wont show inside the airbag wiring, its a exchangable unit but the wiring plug seems to be the simplest hack point for the system. the orc computer seems to talk to every other module to say its ok lets drive off. |

i didnt get any fault codes even when i pulled them out while it was running. the manual says the other fuses for the orc system are the ocm (occupant classification module) ones located under the dash drivers side numbered 6 and 19 top left is 1. i didnt pull them though but i guess it wouldnt be a problem. the seatbelt restraint module is also involved with the orc modules too, i think the orc module when activating the airbags also locks the seatbelts from moving and if the module doesnt talk the orc module you get the light and code. hope this helps a little. |
What I do find strange is the 4 small steel blocks tacked on to the panhard bar itself in the foreground? No idea what they would be for?
Harmonic dampeners is my bet. Nissan 4wd's have them on rear trailing arms, although its wierd to see them on panhards....... maybe engineering and seat of pants testing determined that was the most effective placement of them. |
Wow, so nice of you to check this out for me. After reading what you had to say I did a quick search and found these.
http://www.airbagsystems.com/simulator.html Looks like I can plug them in and the system 'sees' airbags and wont set off a code. Might be the easiest way out for the moment. |
