I Installed an AEV Snorkel

I measured this about 10 times before I started... awesome what you can do with just a dremel.

Looking good fellas. Next week i'm getting my floor/boot area Rhino lined! Will post pics, or start a thread for those keen to learn more.

JK07 14-03-2009 04:06 PM

Awesome Caseyg
Did you get the Ram Air Scoop if yes put that one on looks better and keep the cyclonic one for outback driving AEV snorkels are the best in my opinion

BigfootBushy 14-03-2009 06:43 PM

Number plate mount

6mm alloy plate, an led light and a weekend of cursing to replace the long gone factory relocated mount that was attached with wood screws.

I like it! Something different is always great, especially when you know you have done it yourself! Well done mate!

4x4 Show was on here at Brisbane, took the opportunity to buy a new UHF and antenna. Did the install this weekend - mounted on the Daystar panel I had bought. Also improvised with the shifter rubber boot, where I broke the plastic guard when I removed the interior for rhino lining... Not bad if I say so myself, $3 worth of silver bolts from Bunnings. Drilled through the original plastic moulded screws which were impossible to take off.

Extended front and rear diff breathers. Piss of piss, even a dumb ass like me can do it!!

mikalong 22-03-2009 07:29 PM

Had a gut full of bending the numberplate on minor trips so fitted the ARB number plate relocation bracket to the spare wheel.

Also went to the 4wd show and got a Magnum winch. Now I have a project for next Saturday :-)

Also ordered a AEV snorkel from Jeepkonnection but not brave enough to fit it. Have a panel beater mate who will do the cutting during the week.

Running a bit late these were done the week before

- sintered bronze filters for diff breathers

- a fire extingisher (for burning jk's :) )

JK07 22-03-2009 07:35 PM

aussiebum what kind of breather are they? is this a new bracker u made also...

aussiebum 22-03-2009 08:21 PM

The breathers are sintered bronze filters with a 1/4" thread

and the bracket is a 1/4" manifold with 4 inlets/outlets

I got them all from a pneumatic shop near the coburg drive-in

the filters allow air to flow though easily but not water.

most diff breather kits on the market use the little blue air silencers (also from a pneumatic supplier )

the 2 x filters, 2 x 9mm airline stems and manifold cost me under $30.

This is what i've been up to over the last couple of days

http://myweb.westnet.com.au/serinam/Pics/Jeep/Sub.jpg

Just got to carpet it and create some proper anchors/restraints. Just finished this tonight and it pumps HARD!

Yes I built the box myself. It took me 2 days to do it properly but it's a darn side better than the stock sub and it doesn't take up much more room considering the size.

I went for quality gear here as I wanted clean punching bass.

http://myweb.westnet.com.au/serinam/...Spotlights.jpg

Installed the 3 x NARVA Blue 175's on the Rugged Ridge light bar I got from Phil. They're no Lightforce but for the price they are damn good spotlights.

JK07 23-03-2009 10:15 AM

I like it. The 3 lights in the front really look good.

Special People

I also have a stone white unlimited rubicon , which looks sweet with a OME 2" lift ( nearly 4" ) front and rear ARB bars ( done thursday ) and am proud of it being white . I am taking it on the birdsville-strezlekie tracks at easter and will post pics .

So far this week I have treated my JK to a new front passengers side axle, upper and lower ball joints and a new front drive shaft.

I also stuck on the new Rego label and replaced the broken Navman power cable.

Greg

JK07 24-03-2009 09:15 AM

We need pictures.... why did you replace ur front driveshaft and what did u replace it with.

PureCaboose 24-03-2009 10:14 AM

The front axle, drive shaft and ball joints were replaced under warranty when I damaged them. Don't know why they did the drive shaft. I blew out the axle universal joint and split the ball joints.

I was not going to argue with them though...replace what ever you want...

Von Depner 24-03-2009 02:48 PM

Greetings all
Just done the 20,000k services and the dealer has finally ordered a new diesel filler for my car. I m one of the lucky crd owners with a petrol filler neck. You guys think you have a slow fill issues try filling when you cant fit the nossel in. and you in a hurry lol.
Von Dep

JAG811 24-03-2009 02:59 PM

Diesel pump won't fit in ??
I might have to give you a call to find out more mate !!
JJ

Von Depner 24-03-2009 03:15 PM

I have the same light setup but on an ARB bar and if I was buying a bar right now, the rugged ridge is actually what I'd get instead.

Did you use 2 spot and 1 wide or 2 wide and one spot?

I used two wide on the outsides and one spot in the middle.

Throws a good light pattern. I'm more interested on seeing what is going on on the side of the road rather than what's 1km down the road.

CrazyNuts 25-03-2009 09:46 AM

Though I'd post up some better pictures of the lightbar and also the finished (carpeted) subwoofer box.
