kitrino_tj 18-12-2009 08:01 PM

well done jono, looking forward to the build of death

its going to be another victorian classic

Maz 20-12-2009 08:10 PM

thanks for the comments.

I know its going to be hard work and plenty of cash but in the end its something I have always wanted to do. I want to do as much of the work I can on it myself and have a few mates that will also help out. I have never done anything like this before, so it will be a big learning curve and will only make me understand Jeeps better at the end of it all. Also gives me a reason to go to work and earn some cash so I can spend it on building it up. No point working and earning cash if you cant spend it and enjoy it.

Its pretty rough atm as I have not researched and priced all options yet but the ideal plans are:

350 chev motor
turbo 350 auto
diff options: gq patrol; ford 9" + dana 44; dana 60 + dana 44???, stick with the stock amc 20 and dana 30. Still not too sure. Any ideas would be welcomed.
front and rear warn bars
33/35" mt claws on classic II's on road and would love a set of 33/35" boggers on steel rims for offroad
paint: have always wanted lime green but lately have been thinking bright silver. Have some mates to help me paint it.:)

Any info/opinions would be appreciated on the plans? I plan to find out a lot more before I commit to anything.

itchy 22-12-2009 08:09 PM

Terror, do you know what the original color was?
DONT put 33s on it, lookin at Flex-ons i reckon they could do with 36-37s and still look in proportion, not like a stupid lift Niisan or somethin if ya get my drift, sorry if i offended any Nissan owners (NOT).

no idea what the original colour was. Its still waiting for a ride over from perth.

Only reason to go 33's was if I was sticking with the stock diffs. If I build the diffs with stronger ones I would hit it up with 35/37's for offroad work.:)

Glad to see a Jeep beening saved. However NOT happy to see one leave Perth there an't many here as it is. :)How did you get on to the truck.

Maz 02-01-2010 02:33 PM

looks great man, should be a beast when finished!!

Maz 06-01-2010 05:58 PM

awesome news. The car has arrived!!!:D :D :D :D

took it for a spin around my mates place where Im storing it til I decide what mods Im going to do to her. Was all going well til it stopped.:( Was having a ball til then. First thoughts are she ran outta petrol but didn't have time to check.

First impression are its a great car. Body is in top nick. Very minor surface rust , hardly worth mentioning and the rest is pretty straight. She looks bloody tiny as it sits atm so cant wait to get it lifted and put some 35's under it.

Just a quick question. Do the wide body cj's actually measure any wider in the body or is it all in the diffs?

kitrino_tj 06-01-2010 06:06 PM

well done maz, this is going to be one of the most highly anticipated builds in the history of AJOR

we want a crazy colour and crazy motor - should be sweet

Maz 06-01-2010 06:21 PM

thanks mate.

paint will most likely be kawasaki green and it will be chev powered with auto tranny. 35" muddies should look sweet under it to.:D I was thinking silver but it might be a bit to plain for me.

Yeah but from memory its 3" or just under- different offset rims will fix that.

Maz it looks like a noddy car. Get busy.
Some ******** planning and encouragement sessions in your shed soon?

Sevone 07-01-2010 01:03 PM

Looks good Maz. Whats the history of it? Straight and clean and all...1 lady owner driven to church?

history im not too sure on except to say it came from perth from a member on here DougG. He already has one and bought this off a guy and it was sitting at his place for a while. Doug helped out heaps to get it running and ready for the trip over to melbourne on the train.

Thanks MCLovin. I would be very happy if mine turned out to look like yours, except it will be green. I was at the muster last year when I saw your CJ 8. Its what got me thinking about owning one myself. Any advice you can give me?

kitrino_tj 07-01-2010 04:57 PM

silver is a nice colour but i reckon a black would look pretty tough

Maz 07-01-2010 05:05 PM

black and bogged
