Grand SRT8 Hi,
i've dreamt of a grand srt8 since they have come out but now im seriously considering one Does anyone have one on here? what do they think? Is it worth the extra coin over a limited? Would it tow the tj if needed? feedback would be appreciated. |
Can't tow with an SRT8 as the exhaust exits in the centre of the rear bar
bear in mind it also has no low range |
Well thats kinda stoooop!

Hitch receiver is just above the exhaust. I'm looking into this as well. I can't decide b/w the Chrysler 300C Touring SRT or the GC SRT. |

I'd like both but yeah, bit expensive. If I was gonna get a 300c I wouln't get a touring. Sedans are much better looking imo I have watched so many videos on youtube of SRT8. They are fantastic. I'll get one one day.... After I buy my 8 Series BMW and WJ. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...SRT8Boat02.jpg You should have no problems towing a TJ. SRT8 towing capacity is like 3500Kgs + It's the fastest accelerating Naturally aspirated SUV In the world... well apparently equal 1st with the ML 63 AMG |
Check Australian legalities- when I was selling 'em they were not rated to tow- and towbsr was unavailable
|
this should be a poll
|
Ive driven one.They fly.
Handle well and.......well..... there just cool. |
Prolly the fastest that boat will ever go!
|
Id go the jeep over the 300c they are junk, junk fit and finish, handle like crap and arent as fast as people make out.
But if its never going to go offroad get a turbo territory ghia get a tune and a front mount and smash any srt model for 6 :) |

ford also make very few good looking cars these days, jeep smashes it in that dept.

Most jeeps are downright fugly, thats why I like em. |

.......ironically I reckon one of the only SUV/4WD's on the road today that looks anything like my WJ is a Territory. Seriously, sit one next to a WJ and the similarities are numerous, particularly size, shape and split tailgate/window. Jeep should have sued for plagiarism!! Anyhow I reckon Ford has some pretty good looking cars in it's current range, not that I would want any of them in front of a STR8. Would maybe consider a GT-P or F6 Typhoon though :p |
There is one on carsales with a towbar has anyone found out what the go is with these towing as im seriously looking to buy one for the exact same reason????????
|
There not worth the 93k+orc that they want new.
300c srt, drive one then try a clubby and f6. |
90K? phwoar.
i'm lookin at 2007 ones going for 45K... had a fang of the WH this morning on damp roads - damn, gets off the line fast with 4 wheels spinning. 300C woulda done a big burnout with no go. Now the WH SRT - sheez, that would be fun. Gotta love pulling into 100kph t-intersections from dead still :) |
Geezzzz 45k ain't too shabby. Didn't know they went for that second hand.
|
found out last week that you can novated lease S/H cars as long as they are 7yrs old or less at the end of the lease term.
3yr lease on a 2007 300C ... oh yeah! The residual isn't too bad too as the depreciation hit is biggest in the first few years. a bit more - but nearly new: http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...cs=5&silo=1011 |
Yeah my f6 is on lease. Seriously try an f6 as well as the 300. Don't believe the mags, I've done a 12.7 stock. Watch out for second hand on lease, the warranty could save you lots.
|
Warranty? On a Chrysler? Surely that's not necessary! ;) hehe
The SRTs i've been eyeing off are fairly low km (sub 40K) and juuust within wtty period. maybe i should be looking at the extended wtty option. I won't buy a Ford (or Volvo, or -in-my-dreams an Aston). Massive bias aginst them even tho they have some ace models. The E-series HSV R8 tourer is on the radar tho. http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...s=14&silo=1011 |
I've done the ring around and they should be getting back to me today. The Grand Cherokee has the rating to tow 3500kg and the SRT8 is only rated at 1500kg which is the question i have asked them. I am sure they are the same car with a body kit and big hemi and if its just the exhaust stopping a decent tow bar being fitted im sure i could move it. Does anyone know any different specs between them that could limit the tow capacities.....
|
reduced suspension travel? lower load rating on tyres?
|
far as i know when i bought the 300c srt the grands can tow 500kgs only the 300c no tow bar at all reasons are tyres engine power grearbox suspension not set up for towing + the tow bar is or was 800+ on a srt for 500kgs max towing rip off

I saw one with a tow bar in melbourne, they relocated the dual pipes
i here you cant get insurance then ! ehhhhh I have taken one for a spin and compared to my 2000 4.7L v8 it went ok very noisy and lumpy in a good way... When they are cheaper Im gunna buy one and stick 37`s on it ! when im old...... |

I'm not sure. I know they are not 'Luxury' like they should be for 93k. But lets look at it's competitors. Firstly Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 0-100Km/h 5 secs, $95,000 Mercedes ML 63 AMG 0-100km/h 5 secs, $170,000 BMW x5 M 0-100km/h 4.7 sec $175,000 Porche Cayanne Turbo 0-100km/h 4.7 Secs $245,000 Audi Q7 V12 Twin turbo 0-100Km/h 5.5 Secs $260,000 Range Rover Sport Supercharged 0-100km/h 6.2 Secs $165,000 I think that's all it's competition. So overall if you want a Performance 4x4 the Jeep SRT8 is good value for money with a sub 100k price tag. Plus it's Faster off the line then a 300c SRT8 The Grand it looks better then most of it's competition. |

i love the shape of the srt8 GC. well out of my budget. but im seriously considering a 2005-2007 jeep GC, 5.7 litre hemi
i have seen some with low kms in the 25k-30k bracket, leather interior, and really nice looking rigs. i know not as fast or tidy as a srt8, but still would tow my tj with ease, and be bloody nice to be in while doing so.. |

Yeah the clubby and STR8 isn't in the same league as an F6 Palmyra Dragway(ANDRA track) 7/5/10 Stock new clubsport - 13.5 300C SRT8, full exhaust, CAI, throtlebody, tune - 13.2 My stock F6, spare in boot stock tyres - 12.6 Oh yeah Breezy you were there I know of G6ET's going 12.8's |
Well I am still in, although you might wanna check this out first :)
My SRT8 @ Calder Stock with Exhaust / CAI / drag Radials FEB 2008 12.87 @ 109mph http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...d/scan0011.jpg 75 SHOT Nitrous FEB 15 2008 11.94 119mph Chryslers on the Murray 2009 Dyno Comp :) as it was over 12months ago Also you sure on the F6 being stock and running 12.6. I have gone up against a few F6's (when stock) (FPV, Typhoon) and never beaten. Basic mods would beat an SRT8 as did one XITMNT that was definitely not stock. |
Nice Jected
Yep definately sure 12.60@112MPH. 1/2 tank fuel, spare in boot stock Dunslop tires from dealer. You like this Ive only got 10k km's so waiting to see if something stuffs up before wasting the warranty then ill be shooting for a low 11 |
