Border Track end of August Anyone keen for a Border Track trip near the end of August, start of September?
Would be good to see Adam finish it this time, and I've missed last couple of trips with Jeeps and other mates due to dodgy diff. I'd say, leave Friday night, camp up the top, drive to Red Bluff on Saturday, then finish it and home on Sunday. |
So far Jim, Tattoedtank is Keen to go 👍

I won't be able to make it, we just have too much stuff planned for the weekends surrounding the end of August. I hope to see a few photos and videos of the fun you guys will no doubt have. [emoji3]

Awww if the timing was good I'd come.
I'll keep an eye out for the firm date. See what happens. What's the fuel logistics like? |
Fuel is usually fine, have done it a couple of times innthe thirsty WJ with no issues, top up at Pinaroo, then easily have over a quarter by the time I make it to Tintinara to fuel up for trip back, or head down to Bordertown for the people heading back to Vic

If my jeep can make it then everyone else should be fine lol

Would making it next weekend suit people, meet up on the first night, Friday the 25th, or the weekend after? That might be tricky as it's Fathers Day.
Plan is camp up the top somewhere like Pine Hut Soak (awesome camp ground) then kick off around 10 in the morning giving time for people who want to rock up Saturday morning, then make our way down to Red Bluff, about 4 hours or so, camp for the night, arriving mid to late arvo, leaving time for some brews and to get the camp oven going, then do the mud stricken bottom part on Sunday morning and home for the arvo. |
It would be great to have some of the Vic people come along too
|
I'm really keen, so is the missus and 12yr old daughter, but it might be too tight timing.
I doubt this weekend (19-20th) is possible. I'll see tonight. Or do you mean the weekend after that 26-27th. Gunna give it a good crack though either way:D A bit excited |

You're not alone there :D:D:D |
Yeah next weekend Hoobz
This week would be too tight, so 26th-27th sent from my WG Grand Cherokee using the ausjeepoffroad app |

I should have known Adam, your profile pic is one I took last year, haha.
SO so far, we have Myself - Grippy - WJ Grand Tattoedtank - Jim - Beasty Wrangler Hoobz and family - WJ, woo hoo, another one Tookles and family - XJ maybe some others. |
 yeah it is. Still my favourite pic of the xj
Got a mate that may be interested in coming in his hilux too |
Sorry guys... Looks like you're going to have to put up with us tagging along :hammer:
Lock us in. We're all looking forward to it. Add me, my missus and one 12yr old, in Dexter the WG. Plus another couple of keen mates in an Amorok, it's set up with lift, locker, 33" muddies and a winch. Some others are still to get back to me, so possible more |
Excellent!
I'm owed some time at work so going to ask today if I can get a reliever for half day next Friday 25th and leave around lunchtime, getting to Pinaroo around 3 or so, giving time to get the fire going, have my T cooking in the camp oven for a decent time and just chill for a while with some brews. Then Saturday, maybe head off around 10 or so, making our way to Red Bluff, stops on the way for lunch and playing around on sand hills etc and for when people get distracted by having phone reception on top of Trig Hill where the lookout tower is, make camp by 3 or 4, finish the track the next day, through the mud pools, haha So what do ya all think? Pine Hut Soak for the first camp on Friday night? It's the best and biggest of them all up that way I think, then Red Bluff is massive too, and they both have long drops for the ladies. There is usually some wood along the track to collect, campsites are fairly stripped, but maybe if each car can bring a bag of wood, so we can have a decent fire???? Heaps being given away on GumTree |
Work boss and house boss both say it's ok for this trip! I'm in! [emoji869][emoji41][emoji869]

We are in! We will be heading up Saturday morning though so its only 1 night for the little one.
Cant wait :) |
awesome people's, good to hear Jim, tis tough sometimes with travelling with babies Adam, I had to 'apply' for my half day, so waitimg to see what my Line Manager says, otherwise I'll be there around 630 or so. Haven't told the home boss yet, haha, I did mention it a few weeks ago though, so that counts
So Pine But Soak Friday night????? Sent from under my Grand Cherokee |
I'm busy working on Dexter after work a lot. Nothing too major.
Just niggly things that are best sorted for a longer outing from home. |
What sort of stuff needs fixing? I usually give mine a once over before a trip, just checking bolts etc

Done 6/Remove front E-Locker and work out why no worky. Done fixed. 7/Try solve front axle leak. Done, it self fixed. 7/Check rear diff fluid. To do 7/Fit inside fender liners cos don't want to carry 100kgs of mud everywhere in those pesky pockets and openings. To do 7/ I like the number 7 Pretty easy stuff. Just takes some hours PS. I give it a once over after every weeken virtually. It actually sleeps at the hoist. I had a couple of very near mechanical misses that would've ended badly. Never again hopefully. Ask me on the weekend :D:D:D |

We're leaving Geelong Friday after lunch.
Amarok friend had dates mixed up, he was already committed to towing a drag car trailer on that weekend, can't come now, he's mega bummed. So at this stage just my little family representing Vic. |
I'm ok with camping pine hut soak camp fridee night too

Bummer about the Amarok ah well always next time :) |
I should be able to leave Modbury just after lunchtime. Pine Hut is easy to find, just before Pinaroo is Rosy bark, line or something road, head down there for a bit and it's on your left. Or head through Pinaroo, Chuck a right on the Border Tk, then head right where the pay box info sure thing is on that track and it's about 15 minutes up on your right
