Headlight loom, next round?

Hi all, I have had a few enquiries recently about making some more headlight looms, so this is to see how much interest there in them.

For those who aren't familiar with the looms that I make they are a complete plug N play upgrade loom to give brighter more reliable headlights, save the headlight switch from burning out and has the option for driving lights built in (a switch and a ground wire required, not included), the looms use quality relays and semi sealed fuse holders and are rated for up to 130/90's for the headlights up to 130w driving lights.

http://i1182.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7e833c87.jpg

The loom runs in the same path as the original loom and is a simple matter of strapping the new loom to the existing loom.

The looms are tailored to suit either a pre-update or update model.

The cost is $150 for the loom if collected, $170 incl post for the eastern seaboard plus I can install it for an extra fee if local, a deposit of $50 will be required to get started as I need to buy all the parts.

If you're interested express your interest here along with if you have a pre-update or update, if I get enough interest I will make some more....

Looks great jj, count me in. Post-update, mailed to Sydney please.

aaronwmcdonald 27-03-2013 05:18 PM

Admittedly have not installed mine yet but can vouch for the quality of these looms. Very slick work and value for money.

Hi mate. I'm doing mine ATM. Problem is I can only find a h4 socket that's pre wired. It looks like it might only be 4mm wire. If I wire it up with it I Spose it won't make any difference because that small 10cm of wire coming off the h4 socket is only 4mm.

I am assuming you are talking automotive 4mm?
I personally never use automotive wire as it is falsely advertised size wise as most of the "4mm" is the insulation, 4mm automotive is really only 1.82mm2....
The more joins in the wiring the more chance if reliability issues...

Shiggins 27-03-2013 07:20 PM

I'm using 6mm mate. Auto wire. It's pretty think. I am going to have to find h4 sockets that have no wiring.

junglejuice 27-03-2013 11:15 PM

Again that "6mm" is really not 6mm it is really only 4.6mm2, they like to claim a larger size as it looks more impressive.
Good luch with it....

You just remove the individual plugs from the housing or just use plugs by them self on the back of the globe. That is what I have done. It helps with keeping connections cool.

Shiggins 28-03-2013 12:46 PM

Thanks layback.

JJ what wire do you use then?

junglejuice 28-03-2013 12:58 PM

I use high temp industrial high flex cable, it has a higher strand count then automotive cable, is tinned for long life and has a better quality insulation....

rainman 28-03-2013 02:33 PM

I used this for wire
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=WH3079
relay
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SY4077

there were some relay bases as well worked a treat
http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=SY4078

and got the female H4 plugs off ebay.
good luck with it.

Chero 28-03-2013 04:11 PM

If I was in any more in I'd be poking out the other side.

One loom please 96 pre.

Shiggins 29-03-2013 10:27 PM

Hey JJ, I did the loom upgrade today but i found it hard with 3 receivers. One is for my spotties and also 3 inline fuses. it would of been easier getting one of you but i had already purchased all the gear to do it myself. It looks like you do yours completely different to the how to page. i don't suppose you could help me out with some photos so i can see how you do it and maybe get mine tidied up a bit?

greg188 04-04-2013 10:51 AM

I'm in! Post update. Pick up.

Are the headlight reflectors pre and post the same? I'm hunting for some new reflectors too.

junglejuice 04-04-2013 01:13 PM

The lenses are interchangable.

I will tally up the numbers and contact those who have expressed interest and see how many are able to pay a deposit to lock in their order in a couple of weeks and go from there so if you're thinking of doing this upgrade you have a couple of weeks to express your interest (busy building fences at the moment and have a wreck to dispose of first) and then get this under way....

greg188 04-04-2013 02:13 PM

Cool, Thanks

aaronwmcdonald 06-05-2013 06:47 AM

Hi there, I've been away a few weeks are these still on the go? Let me know when you're ready for deposits etc.. Cheers.

junglejuice 06-05-2013 11:58 AM

Hi guys, I will be in touch in the next few weeks re the deposits, work is hectic at the moment so getting the time is my biggest issue at the moment....

CreepersJeepers 26-07-2013 11:12 PM
