This'll become an instant sticky :D!!

Averaged 8.5L/100km over 1500 km's driven fully loaded with Roof Basket stacked in my 05 CRD (Mostly Highway, 100k's varied Offroad).
|
Last car was a KJ 02 LTD V6 average around town 17 L/100.
New car (next week) 06 CRD LTD KJ ? Hopefully better than V6 |
shit yeah i had a loaner kj v6 for a week the best i saw driving like i drive he crd wasa 14-15L instead of 9-11: i see in the crd
|
Our 06 CRD is only 9000 klm old and gets about 10.5 - 11 lit/100 km with 245/75 R16's and 2 in lift. [edit] Forgot to add that we also have an ARB bullbar adding significant weight to the car...
We were getting about 10 lit/100 km before the mods Will probably powerchip it in the not too distant future |
keep in touch re the power chip add onid like to know how they go b4 purchaseing one myself :)
|
My V6 aveage for the first 58000ks on original rubber was 12.3ltr/100k. Fitted 245/70 ATR's now have done 40000ks on them for an average of 12.8ltr/100ks. Thats being used as my daily driver,City, country and work. Usually cruise just under 110kph.
|
My ex girl was giving 13L/100km with the arb bar all skids and coopers 245/70r16.
I thought that was not bad. That was on premium 95ron. I'm not sure what one could do to bring it down much. |
My 2003 kj 3.7 V6 done 50K on original tyres.
7K / litre around town over 400K per 70L tank. Gets 8K / litre or over 500K on the hyway. |
things that make ya go mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
mines been getting about 550-650 per tank ( just done 25,000) now its saying it will get nearly 700-800kms a tank since it was serviced ???? all they did was a fuel filter, oil, aircleaner but i did get the exhaust muffler on the back ( i bashed the f#@k outa it at coffs they say at the stealership there wasnt any upgrades to flash to the ecm far as im aware i havn't changed my driving much lol no idea maybe its just now the engine is looseing up ? who knows the way its going heading to melb will be instead of 2 tanks most likely 1-2 tanks could be 1-1&1/2 or 1-1&3/4 ? |
We have just returned from 5500km trip towing a Kimberley Camper. Our 2006 CRDauto has just clocked up 10,000km. The first 4500km prior to trip average was 11.7L/100km (best 10.5, worst 13.8)made of 80% 110km/h freeweay driving. The average for the 5500km trip with the Kimberley was 14.0 L/100km (best 11.7 worst 15.4) - 2500km of this was on corrigated dirt roads + a bit off sand off-roading here and there.
We have a 50mm ARB/OME lift & 235/75 BF Goodrich AT's & a TJM nudge bar fitted. Overall very impressed with the KJ - not so with the OME kit but I'll comment in the lift thread on that. Cheers. BC |
we just got in to syd bris to melb in back through here the kj was getting about 8.5-9.0 l per hndred up n back sitting on just over the 110kms limits
the distance to empty said it would get roughly 800-850kmd per tank so were very hapy with that got to melb for 200 bucks ( same amout for 2 ppl to fly) and we had a car to get round in  |
KJ 3.7L Petrol 06 Renegade
These are rough averages. standard hwy: 12L/100km town: 16L/100km add 2" OME lift & Cooper STT's hwy: 14 town: 18 add ARB bar & warn 9.5xp winch & IPS lights hwy: 15 - 16 (sometimes high 14's) town: 19 - 20 When I've got some quiet non-4WD weekends I'll put the Goodyear road tyres back on and see how they are. |
Hi,
I used to get 12-13L/100Kms in the first 6000Kms and then it has gradually moved up to 14-15.5L/100 Kms (current reading at 12000Kms). KJ 05-06 3.7L Renegade model without additions/modifications. cheers! |
First Tank in the 06 CRD - 11.5Litres/100 round town
Second tank - 10.0L/100 on the highway (sitting just over 110) Best bit is just punting along in 6th and not noticing hills! Very happy |
So I can assume Laz, that you've made the right purchase? :)
Ours (also '06 CRD manual) is still averaging around 11 lit/100 km, but that is with the bigger tyres, lift, bullbar etc, so not unhappy. Got 24000 km on the clock now, and only 7 months old  |
1st 2 tanks in the CRD manual ~11l/100 with a mix of driving but mostly around town.
I agree with you Laz I love the cruise control thing just pulls up hills in 6th like they are not there. Got to love those 400Nm |
I,ve got the V6 kj with lift and STT mudders, I have been watching the fuel light thing a lot lately , found that if I fill up when the light comes I get approx 55lts in, but, tank is 77ltrs, so with a 20lt jerry in the car I tested out just how far I could go. Fuel ligt came on at 345km on a Saturday, I drove all week filled up 74lts on the next Fiday at 462km, thats about 120km on "Empty", I'm pretty happy with that, approx 16.2 per 100km 8-)

Have 05 KJ LTD 31 STs 3 1/2" lift ARB bullbar V6 auto Petrol. Used to do 12.5 lt/100 stock after the mods its does about 15-18 yesterday did Melb-Syd 9 hours and 14.7 lts/100. Difference, used the high octane fuel 95 and 98, why:
I found it was a bit out on the gearing with the bigger tyres and wasn't happy holding overdrive. (Kept kicking down) on the trip down to Melb (15.7 lt/100). The extra grunt from the 98 octane fuel helped to keep it in overdrive longer without the kickdown. I kept the revs under 2,000 where possible, soon as I put the boot in I could see the instant read out on the overhead consol go out the window as the revs went up to 4-5000. Looks like the gearing needs to be a fraction lower with the larger tyres to improve the fuel eccon or get a few more horses out of the engine. Not sure if a chip fix or extractors is the way to go. |
Interesting. I believe there is a chip for the V6 KJ - 340Nm ? Improving Torque will improve your fuel consumption, 4.10 gears would be better as it would take the ratio just under stock with the 31" tyres.

I think its POWERCHIP AUSTRALIA ? I cant be sure but have a look at their website ?
I remember they do one for the Crossfire as my father wanted to give his' the powerup, but recently got rid of it. |
It is indeed, thanks for that. Here's the data.
Jeep - Cherokee 3.7 Make Jeep Model Cherokee 3.7 Fuel Required (More info) 98 RON Only Power Standard 155 kW Power Powerchip Gold 98 (More Info) 168 kW Torque Standard 312 Nm Torque Powerchip Gold 98 340 Nm Gold 98 Powerchip(Inc GST)* AUD $990.00 Nearly a grand! Yikes! There's a "Jet performance module" that's around USD $300, but it's cack apparently. http://lostkjs.com/forum/phpBB2/view...er=asc&start=0 |
03 CRD Renny with ARB bar + IPF spotties
10.3 L/100km indicated on the EVIC |

....if its an average of both, can you tell us what the makeup of your driving involves. ? thanks! |

Yep thats' exactly what mine dones as well, most of the time I find better economy keeping the "overdive bypass" on, I find I lift my foot up on the accellerator when I drop it out of overdive at 100km and when I let it go back into overdive I must put my foot down harder to keep the same speed  . I now run that new V-Power shell fuel and must admit that it is heaps better. Looked in to updating ECU found this http://www.bgperformancepcm.com/ (scroll down about halfway the find Liberty), but am now thinking along the gear ratios line as lower "low" range is what I really miss. |

Haven't had the chance to take it out. This info is from my gf driving the car while I sit @ home so I don't know how she is driving it LOL. |
I've had a '01 KJ V6 since November of that year. (1st or 2nd delivery to Aus I believe). Had to get rid of a much modified ( and loved ) TJ Wrangler to allow for family. Personally I've always felt the petrol was underpowered..and certainly under-torqued for it's weight. Not happy with the clearance (or the visual) ..we went with 'tweaked' OME lift kit that gave us about 2 1/2" lift..and then added Cooper 245/75 x 16 tyres. Finances ran out on me though and I never got the 4.01 or better still.. 4.56 ratios done. This was a big mistake as it made the problem I had from standard..even worse ! I believed the petrol engine needed the 4.01 final drive much more than the diesel did..but thats how the first shipments were coming in. I'm not sure about now though. Average fuel consumption has been from about 13.5 through to 15.5 depending on load and how hard it's pushed. I believe ratios would have done a lot to reduce those figures though...and made the car much more pleasant to drive. ...Moral...?? If you're buying a petrol engine... get the ratios done.. and then worry about lift...tyres...bullbar etc. If you buy the CRD... I can't speak from experience...but it seems you've made the right choice !

2005 KJ CRD 61,000 kms I'm averaging 10.7 l/100 in normal driving - 50/50 mix of city/highway.
It's up a little from 10.5 l/100 when I replaced the clapped out Goodyear tires at 35000 km with Pirelli Scorpion ATs - worth it for the better ride, handling and wear both on and off road. Gets down to around 8.5 on trips. |
Last trip towing 16' pop top van down to Melb
18L/100 into headwind 14L/100 driving sedately around 95-100 Klm/hour (does go up hills nice must say) - that's about 5L/100 better than the wrangler driven at the same speed ;) |
My KJ was up to 18.5 lt/100 round town and I decided to have a closer look at what was happening...
First a top with injector cleaner and some 98 octane (very little improvement) It has about 42K on the clock so I checked the plugs.... Nice colour but electrodes burnt right down and about 0.050" gap... 6 new Iridiums plugs ($15 each REPCO) and it going like a train will have some fuel figures tomorrow. |
want your commets on kj hi everyone only new today. im thinking of buying a used kj crd auto i would like to know what you think of them, what i should look for when buying one. im trading in my nissan patrol cab chassie 42 turbo oiler ,cheers ron can email me @ronxr8@optusnet.com.au thanks again.. :blah:
|
It runs out of fuel, you fill it up and drive on. That's my economy input :)

P.S Buy an 05 on wards with the VGT turbo and 5 speed auto--- there the ones with the up dated front end! They are awsome !! ;) |
Well new Iridium plugs have had two days and no major changes but with a 2 hour drive to work each morning (40KM) and back at night it's little wonder there is not much change however it is pulling better. (it never gets into overdrive)
Also did a few calculations... My tyres are 2" larger diameter than stock and according to the GPS the speed is reading 12% low.. 400 km by odometer is really 400 X 1.12 = 448KM It took 70 Lts to fill the tank so that makes 448km per 70Lt= 16.6 Lt/100Km not the 17.5 on the display.. I will get my speedo re-calibrated next week ... The moral is that after the big tyres went on the (apparent) fuel consumption went up.. Wrong its the same as before although the 3 1/2" lift knocked it around a bit. :hammer: |

Iridium plugs - might try those in the wifes crd.
. . . . . .. Let's see bites ;) |

06 Manual CRD Economy Hey guys, just had the 20000km service done on my KJ.
Fuel economy has been better than expected. Around Town 9L/100km, Accross the Nullabor :7L/100km (speeds less than 115kph) : 13L/100km (anything over 115kph / 2400RPM) Economy did increase after the first 10000km service. Figures before then... I have no idea, not good. Car has no engine or fuel system mods to increase economy, but does have a roof basket on. Hope this helps. |
