Can someone please help identify this part?

G'day everyone,

Just had an auxiliary fuel tank added to my JK through ARB on Friday and when I collected the vehicle the sales fella advised that I had an issue with the original tank which might be the breather. I have attached a photo which they took for me and which will now need to be replaced. By they way definitely not an issue caused by ARB as I could smell fuel for at least 12 months now but could never isolate the problem. It was by pure chance that having an extra tank added is why they spotted the problem.

Any assistance on identifying the part would be great. I think its the breather and not the pump.

Cheers! :)

EDIT: Sorry the image is sideways and I can't rotate it.

I'm not sure, but I think it might be the evap cannister. That would explain the fuel smell.

What sort of JK do you have, as there may be differences & if we know then someone who has the same type will be better informed to help. Also, just where is it under the car? Near the back? Middle or side?

G'day Banshee,

I have a 2010 Sports Unlimited JKU. The tank is situated on the right side and the evap cannister (if its that) is situated on top of the tank at one end towards the back. By the way in the photo the issue is the round metal (could be plastic) bit that sits on top of the fuel tank and has a hose which is meant to be connected to it. The part the hose attaches to has snapped off which you can see in the photo.

Fuel return line or vent line I would say.

Check this out. It might possibly be your problem. Or at least a fix for you.

IIRC JK's use a dead end fuel supply so wouldn't be a return. Vacuum purge for the fuel tank seems more likely.

Looks like the vent valve to the evap unit. No.5 in the pic. It prevents vapor back-flow into the tank.

Yep that's the part and its No. 6 which is broken. Thanks everyone for your assistance. Looks like I have two choices here. Either try a fix myself or replace the whole tank. Can't believe MOPAR doesn't have a replacement part for No. 5... Seems to be pretty common issue too. :wall:

[EDIT] - By the way Hayesio where did you get the picture from. I have searched online and still can't find it or the website? Would like to take it and show my Jeep service centre as they couldn't work it out either. Want to try and give them as much info as possible for future.
