Service - Fly Away Dollars Dropped my JKU off for its 36000km/18 month service done on a time elapsed calculation rather than kilometers travelled. It has only covered 17000kms to date. After leaving it I received a phone call advising me the service cost will be $1200.00. No choice other than to say yes but.........

say F*k no, and take it to an aftermarket mob like dbor or similar that do log book servicing, stealerships don't get my service dollars
|
what did they do for that money?
mine was serviced 2 weeks ago by a local garage that specializes in pimping landy's and other offroaders, and was about $375.00. |
Yikes mate. That was a no from me
|
That seems high, demand a list of what they did and consumables used.
If it doesn't seem reasonable then tell them so and then negotiate. A normal service on a Jk would be lucky to take 3 hours so say $450 labor and consumables of $200 assuming other parts weren't supplied like brake pads etc etc... So there does seem to be a large markup if it was just a basic service. |
To put that in perspective I just had a 100 000km service done by a mechanic and that cost my $583.00.
That included: Platinum plugs Oil and filter change Diff oil change Tyre rotation Removal of some screws that I picked up in my tyres New brake pads A 36 000km wouldn't be more than an oil change and general inspection I should think. You're getting taken for a ride. |
Who was the dealer? Just name the town will do.
