adjustable track bar hi
I've just discovered my track bar has a worn ball joint at the frame end, and am wondering if this is a unique part, it has left hand thread and looks like a larger diameter that the steering ends. from memory i thought it was a Whiteline part but I'm not sure. other than take the track bar out and either try Repco or a suspension place what are my options. anyone had to replace one yet. thanks ewen |
didn't think you could replace/service it

yep thats the part about being adjustable, the frame end ball joint screws in and out of the track bar tube, thereby being adjustable (with a locking nut)
(this is an after market track bar that allows for adjustment to compensate for raised height vehicles, as you raise the vehicle the standard track bar pulls the axle to one side, the adjustable bar compensates) so as the ball joint is worn it seems to me i can replace it, problem is with what i guess I'm going to have to pull it out and measure, or take the bar or ball joint to Repco or a suspension shop. i was trying to avoid that if i could, and if i could source the part without dismantling the car i could do the removal and replacement all at the one time. guess i can't. |
tie rod It's Going to depend on the brand of trackbar/panhard.
My Roadsafe Automotive panhard uses a L/H thread tie rod Part: TE001L Which is the same tie rod that goes on the drag link at the pitman arm on an XJ. This is from Rusty offroads website regarding their track bar We've used a few different tie-rod ends in our track bars: OEM part # 52005739 - - MOOG part # ES3096L OEM part # 52005740 - - MOOG part # ES3095R OEM part # 52000599 - - MOOG part # ES2223R OEM part # J8136600 - - MOOG part # ES140R Good luck with it. |
ok thanks, that gives me somewhere to start.
